“Coat tails and shadows… I’ve heard it over and over again. That same old broken record of men who have no clue who I am, so they put me in a box and underestimate me.”
The blond haired blue eyed young man stands before a camera, dressed in a blue blazer with a white undershirt and a pair of dress pants. Julius Fristik was looking sharp, but not only that, he was talking with a purpose.
Standing with his back to a double sliding glass door; the view behind him was that of a gorgeous city and a sunrise that melted the horizon with a bold melting orange sky.
“Eddie Havok, you should have taken some time and done your homework. Maybe if you would have dug a bit deeper to find out who I am, what I am wrestling for, and why I came to NPW in the first place, I would feel you were more prepared for our match coming up. But no, Eddie halfcocked his own narrative and instead he comes up with all the same tag lines that everyone else has spewed about me since I stepped foot through the door here in NPW. Congrats Eddie, you have me shakin’ in my boots (rolls eyes). Please, tell me again how you are as prepared as you can be for this Cruiserweight showcase? No no, I’ll wait…”
Julius cups his hand to his ear as he pauses to exaggerate the notion before shaking his head in a disappointing manner. Julius loosens the top button on his white shirt, revealing his neck and chest, as he brings his right arm up and points to his chest with a thumb.
“I am Julius Fristik, the son of Jesse Jamester - but I walk in no shadows, nor do I ride any damn coat tails! Those B-S excuses are fuel for the fire that rage in me! These critics who haven’t walked a mile in my shoes, are what has shaped me into the man I am today. They have pushed me to out work everyone! To come to every match with a mountain of a chip on my shoulder! It’s because of that reputation, that comparison of me to my father, that I have to be not only great, but perfect with everything I do. And you can bet your last dollar Eddie, I promise you, I will be perfect. I will be the Conqueror of Cruiserweights in 2022 and find my way to the finals of the Cup.”
His hand drops to his side as he turns sideways, eyes shifting to the skyline view of the sunrise.
“I spent the last six months rehabilitating a serious neck injury that I was told would end my career before it ever started. Doctors told me I should go back to California, find myself a real job, and forget about this journey I was on… and you know what? I didn’t listen to them. I didn’t listen to nonsense of men and women who didn’t understand what this dream meant to me. The naysayers and the quitters would have taken that excuse and lived off the lore of their short career, doing what you said Eddie, living off their father’s fame and bank roll….”
Lips pursing on the clean shaven face of the fair skinned California kid, now residing in Calgary, Canada. Julius’ body language and facial expressions were the tell of tells, he wasn’t angered by these statements; instead it seemed to motivate him.
“I am not my father, not even by a mile, and I know that. I won’t be the violent prince of NPW, no — I have other ambitions, grander plans, and they begin here and now.”
His voice lowers, as though talking directly to Eddie Havok now as he turns back towards the camera and the cold blue piercing stare fans were all familiar with, met the lens, but this time they came from a younger, hungrier, and fueled man who had everything to prove.
“The Cruiserweight Cup is my homecoming to Northern Pro Wrestling. I am in this to make a name for myself, not just as the son of Jesse Jamester, but as the Premier Cruiserweight of Canada! I’m healthier than ever, and my neck, it’s the bionic bullet in my chamber. I’m as determined as a dog chasing a food truck for the scraps, because I have been starved of my love for professional wrestling! You may have me on experience Eddie, but you don’t have the heart of a Fristik, the heart of a Warrior…that isn’t something that you can be taught. You have it, or you don’t…”
Oozing with adrenaline, every word was piercing the veil of fans who had, up until this moment — known little about Julius Fristik. His background was still a mystery to the masses. Now though, the fans could see the young man who drew similarities to their beloved champion. They were hearing the truth of a young man who wanted to prove to the world his worth in the wrestling ring.
“Gold is a great motivator, but it only gets you to the bout. This tournament isn’t just about a trophy or a championship opportunity to me, it’s much more than that. I’m going to prove not only to everyone watching in that arena, and those sitting at home. I’m out to prove to myself that I not only belong but that I was born for this! Destiny is calling, and it's not asking for Eddie Havok, it's asking for the future of Cruisers, and I am ready to kick open that door and answer that call! It's time for the Pegasus of Northern Pro to fly!"
Turning his back, he slides the glass door open and steps out on the balcony as the screen fades from the edges to the center.
