Roleplay #2 "Welcome to My World"
Johnsons Shut-ins, Ironton Missouri
February 13, 2022,
"The Man Left Behind" silently stands near the water at Johnsons Shut-ins, a few people can be heard splashing around as they swim a little way down from where he is standing. The look of concern, worry, and excitement can be seen on his face as he stands there. He bends over picking up several small flat stones, slowly begins to skip them across the water. The weather has been beautiful for the past week, but getting colder with each passing day.
He sits down on the riverbank while watching a few catfish swimming around, he wishes he had his fishing pole. But instead, he only had his phone. Danny Ray has been thinking long and hard about his next match at NPW Honor: Heart of Halifax, it's a way to get closer to the Gold. A match against three men who have also dreamed of wearing championship gold around their waist.
He fumbles with his phone as he tries to decide if he wants to send a message to his opponents, Dusty Griffin, Takaru Matsui, and Neo James Carner, or try to focus on the gorgeous winter day as he sits next to the icy flowing river. The wind gently blowing by has a slight chill to it, something Danny Ray has always loved about winter weather.
These men most likely have never seen Danny Ray in action except for his debut match but Danny Ray knows all about them, as he still keeps track of wrestling even with losing everything. After a while the sun begins to set, the swimmers have all begun to leave, as "The Man Left Behind" is still sitting on the riverbank holding his phone. He finally decides to send his opponents a short but direct video message.
Danny Ray: Welcome to my world fellows, I'm sure you can see the beautiful woods that stand behind me, the river that flows wild and free in front of me. Wish you could be here and smell the fresh country air, yes, guys welcome to my world.
Danny Ray: No need for you to introduce yourself, I know who you all are, and what you have accomplished throughout your careers. That's one reason I agreed to this Fatal Four-way. You guys are warriors inside that ring and .you elevate everyone and everything around you. I like that, and from what I can see you are three men who want what I want, we need men like that in our business.
Danny Ray: Over your careers, you all have been called a lot of things but the winner of our match will be one thing no one will ever call you. I have always been a superfan of wrestling from a little kid still to this day but maybe the fan in me will disappear as I'm beating you three.
The sounds of crickets and birds can be heard as the sound of the river rushing by helps keep the excitement, worry, and concern of Danny Ray under control while he speaks, knowing his family is no longer in his corner.
Danny Ray: I hope you all know I have faced former Global and World champions already throughout my short career, competitors that are amazing and extremely tough. Although I have an idea that stepping into the ring with you three won't be as easy, you see both of them had heart, they had a fighting spirit but you have something that I don't believe they did, "Killer Instinct" and that's what I need, an opponent that will beat me beyond return.
Danny Ray: I know what your thinking, I am just an out-of-shape middle-aged man who has no right to be in the ring with a specimen like yourselves. But I have done pretty well for myself since starting my career I won the Burgdorff Trophy inside a huge rumble match then went on the same night to defeat Kenneth Bordeaux to win my first Global Championship. You see, I have held that championship for over two years, and I retired with that championship.
Danny Ray: You may be laughing right now, at this old fool, you may see the worry, the concern, and yes excitement on my face. Don't misread that though, as the excitement is because I am facing such an amazing athlete like yourselves and I am excited to see how far you will go to win.
Danny Ray: If you see any concern on my face, it isn't for myself, or for any of you, it's for your families because if I snap back into that frame of mind where I feel nothing and care for nothing, two things could happen and that's where my concern for families comes in I could seriously injure you guys or worse.
"The Man Left Behind" slowly gets to his feet as he continues to speak he walks down along the riverbank allowing nature to take over.
Danny Ray: My worry, isn't for me, it's for you or why should I even care, I may not look like the athletes you have faced before but there is a side of me Northern Pro Wrestling has yet to see and I worry that you may cause that side to come out and NPW don't want that.
Danny Ray: So, when we step into that ring let's put the violence all on the table, the egos aside, and let's give the world what they deserve a hardcore wrestling clinic showing them exactly what NPW wrestlers can do.
Danny Ray: Once again, look around at this beautiful countryside behind me, take it all in, refreshing isn't it. Welcome to my World!!!
He stops recording, placing his phone in his pocket as he sits back down to enjoy the evening by the river.
