Various media outlets gathered inside of Osaka International Convention Centre, for what was scheduled to be a press conference to make announcements in regards to the Re-Launch of BRAVE. Two long tables flanked a podium in the middle. Seated on the far left was crowd Favourite - Daisuke Shinzaki, who was greeted with a very warm welcome from the fans and media in attendance. Next to him was Kenneth Marshall - who surpassingly received a decent reaction from the attendees. This showed that the smart fans are aware of Marshall's list of accolades that he's been collecting all over the globe over the past eight years.
On the other side of the podium, Satoshi Watanabe sat with his arms folded, dark sunglasses and a looks of disgust plastered all over his face. Watanabe was doing his best to stare a hole through Kenneth Marshall whenever he could, but the Canadian grappling sensation paid him very little attention. Satoshi was decked out in a Blue and Yellow Track Suit, which are the colours of the 'Shining Stars' faction that he leads. In the front row across from Watanabe, sat the duo of Kano Ito *in mask* and Tetsu Kondo. The duo were also decked out in the blue and yellow colours. The seat next to Watanabe was vacant, but it was clear that it was there for a reason.
The crowd gasped and applauded when they recognized 'Crossfire' posted up in the back corner observing the scene. The sumo star bowed and waved to the crowd, before everyone's attention was brought back to the podium. Acting commissioner; Hakaru Inoue took centre stage, while Mr. Sakamoto stood behind him.
As the media calmed down, Inoue spoke and welcomed everyone. After Inoue spoke of BRAVE's mission to bring a 'hard hitting' and sophisticated product to the masses, he listed the names on the roster that had already signed. At which point Inoue announced that Kai Fukuda - the Judo Master from Kyoto had signed with the promotion. At which point, Fukuda made his way onto the stage and took a seat at the far end of the stage next to Watanabe. The crowd applauded the hire, and whispered amongst themselves as Fukuda sat down without much emotion shared.
Inoue would then announce that BRAVE would be hosting a SUPER TAG LEAGUE event that would span over many shows to crown the 'New' BRAVE Tag Team Champions. This announcement was met with excitement, but the Shining Stars were none to please. Kano Ito and Testu Kondo were recognized as the final champions of the promotion when they went on Hiatus. Kondo stood, pointed his finger at Inoue, and went on a tirade about how everyone knew that they were the best team in the company. Satoshi Watanabe stood, and told his man to back down. The media snapped photo's of the exchange at a rapid pace, doing their best to capture Kondo's disdain.
Mr. Sakamoto stepped forward and asked the media to hold their questions. He then whispered in Inoue's ear, at which point Inoue picked up where he left off. Hakaru said that there would be a total of six teams competing in a round robin format. The team with the most points at the end of the LEAGUE would be crowned the champions. The reason for this decision, was that more than 50% of the former roster was no longer with the company, and with an influx of new talent, they felt it best to allow for an even playing field from the start.
When it was time to field questions, the first question was aimed at Kenneth Marshall. He was asked if he would be taking part of the SUPER TAG LEAGUE, to which he responded he would like to. The follow up question was if he would be teaming with his 'Technical Authority' teammate Alec Kirkland. At which point, Marshall respectfully declined to comment. Reading between the lines, and knowing where the two men ended up during their stint in Empire Wrestling in 2020, it's possible that they had decided to go their separate ways. Marshall said that he was in contact with someone he felt was worthy of the opportunity, and that it would send shockwaves through the promotion.
Marshall's comments drew a chuckle out of Satoshi Watanabe, who seemed intent on getting under Marshall's skin. The media asked Shinzaki how it felt to be considered one of the most popular wrestlers in the entire country. Shinzaki gave a diplomatic response about hard work, and staying true to oneself. Shinzaki said he was excited to test his skills against BRAVE's best.
The media then asked Inoue if there would be any notable holdovers from the previous roster. Inoue stayed that KYOTO:CRUSH would be returning to the promotion. Inoue said that the duo of Koji Imura and Haru Tanaka were on the cusp of big things, and feel as though they have unfinished business. This brought applause from the crowd, knowing that those two young lions were hardworking and deserving of the opportunity.
Kai Fukuda noted that he was open to aligning with anyone within the promotion. He cited that the opportunity to compete in tag team and singles action was of interest. Satoshi immediately leaned over and whispered to him.
When the media finally addressed Watanabe, he snarled and seemed less than impressed. He told the room to expect more domination from his group. He said that the company could bring in wrestlers from anywhere in the world, from any discipline but it wouldn't matter. He said that heart and soul of BRAVE would always be The Shining Stars!
Hakaru Inoue said that more information about the teams competing in the SUPER TAG LEAGUE Would be made over the next the next week and they were tentatively targeting having the first event sometime this month. The media snapped pictures and applauded the news. Overall, lots of excitement surrounding the announcements made today.
