Andrew Fulton: Now we get our supremely talented US champ here to defend his title against a young upstart.
Jeremy Tucker: That’s right Fulton. This promises to be a real good showing of our young talent here in SWAT.
Frank Salazar: This match is one fall and is for the SWAT United States Championship! Entering first, at 6'1” and 220 pounds from The Teachers Lounge… Henry Hale!
“Losing My Religion” by REM hits the speakers. Henry Hale steps onto the stage and waves to the crowd. He jogs to the ring and slides in ready to fight.
Andrew Fulton: Is he going to be able to handle our US Champ Devon D’Andre?
Jeremy Tucker: I don’t know Andrew, Devon just defeated one of the most beloved superstars in SWAT in Lucky Linda
The lights dim out as the soft opening notes of "Lights" pulses through the arena speakers. Spotlights ranging from green to gold and back again trace around crowd.
## I had a way then
Losing it all on my own
I had a heart then
But the queen has been overthrown ##
Devon bursts onto the stage as a pair of lights fixate on him, SWAT US Title firmly in hand. Slowly lowering the hood of his jacket he grins wide and drops to a knee. Dragging his hand across the floor of the stage, he lightly taps it twice with his fist before popping back up and beginning his trek towards the ring.
## And I'm not sleeping now
The dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping up
The strength I need to push me
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone ##
Frank Salazar: Introducing first. Hailing from Chicago, Illinois. Standing six feet, three inches tall and weighing in at two hundred and sixteen pounds and is the current reigning and defending SWAT UNITED STATES CHAMPION..... DEVON... D'ANNNNDDDRRREEEE!!
The crowd rise to a modest reaction as Devon changes from a walk to a quick sprint to the ring. With a short, quick leap he slides under the bottom rope, literally rolling to a stop in the center of the ring, again perched down a knee.
## You shine them when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone
'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine them when I'm alone ##
He makes the same gesture in the ring as he did on the stage before song fades and the lights rise. As that happens, Devon walks over to the far corner and sits on the bottom turnbuckle, waiting.
Andrew Fulton: And here is the United States champion, this is gonna be good Tucker.
DING DING DING
Andrew Fulton: And the challenger moves in for a test of strength. The champ obliges and they jockey for position. Well, this Hale fellow is showing some real guts but his form is a little off.
Jeremy Tucker: And he gets taken down with a judo throw from the champ. Hale to his feet and OOF! What a knife-edge chop from the champ. This substitute teacher is being taught a thing or two about proper form early on. D’Andre connects with a forearm shiver to the face and grabs Hale as he falls to the ropes. And now an Irish whip.
Andrew Fulton: But the challenger has it scouted and telegraphs the back body drop with a kick to the chest. He wastes no time with a forearm shiver of his own. What a crisp strike. But it seems he doesn’t quite know where to go next as he hesitates before throwing a haymaker.
Jeremy Tucker: Our champ will not forgive that hesitation as he lifts a knee to the gut and then a roundhouse kick to the chest. Hale grabs at him for an Irish whip but Devon reverses and hits an overhead belly-to-belly.
[Devon is to his feet fast and cracks his knuckles and neck. He scouts the substitute teacher as he is slow to his feet. He launches a super kick but the challenger just sees it coming and drops to the mat to avoid it. He kips up and tackles the champ to the mat and pins.]
On-Kickout!
Jeremy Tucker: Too early for that Henry. Devon is far too well versed in wrestling to go down that quickly.
Andrew Fulton: Hale rolls through for a submission but can’t quite get his grip set and D’Andre escapes the attempt at an arm breaker and pulls his leg out sending him to the mat.
Jeremy Tucker: He hauls Hale to his feet and sets him up. Yes, a vertical suplex with a floatover.
ONE!
KICKOUT!
Andrew Fulton: Good heart shown by Henry here to keep coming. He’s got some talent but he is green in the ring. A stomp to the chest from Devon here.
Jeremy Tucker: Wait Hale has grabbed the leg. He hits a dragon screw from the mat! He holds the leg as he climbs to his feet and drops an elbow into the crook of the knee. Hale has a strategy and it’s to work the left leg of Devon D’Andre.
Andrew Fulton: Hale pulls the left leg into a knee bar. The form is a little off but the hold is still doing its work. Devon is scrambling to reach the ropes. He finally does and the ref has Hale release the hold. D’Andre pulls himself under the ropes to the apron holding his left knee. He scowls at the challenger.
Jeremy Tucker: Well this has certainly become entertaining hasn’t it? Devon to his feet and OH! Hale doesn’t wait. He charges at Devon who adeptly pulls the top rope down as he drops to the floor and now Hale tumbles over the top rope and onto the apron. Devon now slides into the ring and taps his temple.
Andrew Fulton: He wants the crowd to know he’s a thinking man Jerry.
Jeremy Tucker: That he is. He goes to the ropes and hooks the rising Henry. He lifts for a suplex but Hale locks his legs on the ropes! He drops to the apron again and lifts D’Andre up! Gordbuster plants D’Andre face first back into the ring.
Andrew Fulton: Hale looks like he’s trying to judge distance. He’s looking at the rope like he has a plan. He leaps onto the top rope for a springboard but Devon lunges and pushes his legs out and Henry tumbles to the mat face first!
Jeremy Tucker: That’ll really change the complexion of this contest. Mistakes like that will cost you dearly against a competitor like Devon D’Andre. He is relentless.
Andrew Fulton: Speaking of relentless, Devon is quick to kick the man in the gut sending him to the corner sitting down. Hale is holding his ribs in agony. Wait what’s … holy hell! What a crazy set of strikes in the corner by D’Andre! Chops and elbows for days!
Jeremy Tucker: The Blade Barrage, no joke Andrew. Devon backs up and runs in for a running face wash but Hale has the wherewithal to fall to the side and Devon ends up with his leg hung on the middle rope. Hale reflexively grabs at him. Oh a school boy!
ONE!
D’Andre grabs the ropes.
Andrew Fulton: It was a good plan anyway. Hale clearly has the know-how and some skill. He’s just lacking something. I don’t how or what though.
Jeremy Tucker: D’Andre is now hopping mad. He rolls to his feet and clobbers Henry with a running yakuza kick. But he’s now shouting at Hale instead of finishing things.
Andrew Fulton: He grabs Hale and pulls him to his feet and hooks him for an exploder suplex. And Hale is sent across the ring with a thud. Devon charging in to stay on the attack! He shoves the rising Hale to the corner hard and rains forearms to the face.
Jeremy Tucker: Henry shoves him back and gets a foot up to the face as Devon charges back in. D’Andre recuperates and charges in again. Hale somehow gets out of the way with a forward roll.
Andrew Fulton: OOF! Devon goes chest first into the turnbuckle pads and stumbles out in pain. HALE MARY! HALE MARY!
Jeremy Tucker: Henry Hale with the cutter and now both men are down.
[The ref begins his count. ONE! TWO! The crowd is going insane! THREE! No movement from either man. FOUR! A stir from Henry. FIVE! He rolls to his stomach. SIX! He pushes to his hands and knees panting heavily as Devon rolls to the ropes. SEVEN! Hale slowly gets to a kneeling position. D’Andre has his arm draped on the middle rope. EIGHT! Hale is to his feet and the ref stops the count.]
Andrew Fulton: Henry Hale is the first man to his feet and he dives onto D’Andre with an inside cradle! It’s not locked in tight and D’Andre manages to squirt out. Both men to their feet and a few stiff strikes from Hale stagger the champ to the ropes.
Jeremy Tucker: But on the rebound is a sloppy clothesline and D’Andre ducks under, hooks the arm and DDT’s him to the mat. He groggily pushes Hale into a supine position and lays across him.
ONE!
TWO!
Kickout.
Andrew Fulton: D’Andre was close but too tired to make a proper pin. Give Hale credit, he has heart.
Jeremy Tucker: Devon seems to have calmed down and is measuring his options. He slowly pulls Hale to his feet. He sets up for the uranage. Elbows to the head send him off the move though. He staggers to the ropes. OH SPRINGBOARD SHIN STRIKE!
Andrew Fulton: Hale needed to contain the movement after freeing himself. He freed up without finishing the counter attack and it cost him.
Jeremy Tucker: D’Andre is starting to feel it. He’s pumped up and springs to his feet and roars. He stalks Hale as he staggers to his feet.
Andrew Fulton: The Ringing Nail! What a hook kick to the face. Hale stumbles forward into the grasp of D’Andre. And the pumphandle hold is in.
Jeremy Tucker: Pumphandle STO! Pure Gold III! It’s academic at this point.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
DING DING DING!!
Frank Salazar: Your winner, and STILL the SWAT United States Champion … DEVON… D’ANDREEEE!
Andrew Fulton: A strong win from the champ and a good match put on by the challenger. He showed signs of ring prowess, but, just missing something for mine.
Jeremy Tucker : Looked real good to me, no shame in losing to Devon, he is one of the best and Hale, he could be one also, if he finds that special something only the best have.
Jeremy Tucker: That’s right Fulton. This promises to be a real good showing of our young talent here in SWAT.
