The show started with Gus Arnold, Owner of Northern Pro Wrestling in the ring. Gus welcomed the fans to the first show of 2020, and said he would be remiss if they didn’t look back on what was a very strong 2019. Gus talked about how NPW was starting to grow in other pockets of Canada besides the Maritimes, and said that they would be looking to tour each province this coming year. Gus put over Gentry McCray’s title defense at 1 year show a couple of weeks ago, and mentioned how he felt Gentry would continue to prove that he is one of the very best wrestlers on the planet. Gus shifted to a discussion around ‘Technical Authority’ and how they fought valiantly despite Kenneth Marshall’s knee injury. Gus remarked that he heard that Kenneth will be taking time off to rehab the knee, and could potentially require surgery which could sideline him indefinitely.
The crowd then started to buzz as it was likely time to address to elephant in the room, and that was that Oxford Osland was no longer the North American Champion. Before Gus could get a word in, Osland interrupted him with a mic in his hand.
Osland told Gus that he had better watch what he says, and that just because Robbie Farside was ‘Lucky’ in defeating him for the North American Championship – he was still undoubtedly the best wrestler in the NAWC. Osland said that his 1 year title reign will go down as the most dominant reign of this century, and that his hard work added unlimited prestige to the championship. Osland vowed to get a rematch on his turf on his terms, and that he would once again become the North American Champion.
Gus interrupted, and reminded Osland that he was scheduled to the defend the Canadian Commonwealth Championship against Eric Dane Jr. later tonight. Osland sneered, and tried to back out of the match. Osland said that he wasn’t doing any favours to some reject second generation wrestler who’s daddy claims he isn’t even his. Osland then went onto trash Eric Dane’s legacy, and said that his schtick from 25 years ago had run it’s course, and wouldn’t get him out of first gear in Northern Pro Wrestling.
The crowed ooooohed and awwwed at these comments. Osland interrupted the crowd, by telling them that he was a fighting champion and a man of his word, and that was the only reason he was even going to entertain the concept of a championship match tonight. Osland said Eric Dane Jr. was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that he would be picturing Robbie Farside tonight when he got his hands on EDJ.
Gus told Osland that he had been walking a fine line for the past year, and that he was going to start seeing to it that Osland wouldn’t be able to recklessly break the rules whenever he deemed beneficial. Osland called Gus an old man, who could ‘catch one’ if wasn’t careful. Gus just brushed it off, it’s not like he hasn’t heard it all when it comes to insult after over fifty years in the wrestling business. Osland finished by saying that he would continue to do ‘whatever he felt like, whenever he wanted’ and nobody was going to stop him.

Esteban Fuentes vs. Callum Ross
15 Minute Time Limit
--
The former Midwestern Champion made his way to the ring, much to the surprise of the crowd. ‘En Fuego’ was slapping hands with the crowd, and seemed excited to be there. With the hiatus of MPW coming into effect, it’s bene rumored that some their roster would find their way over to NPW. This should be considered a top notch singing, as Fuentes held the Midwest Championship with dignity, until the numbers game of Bloodline proved to be too difficult to overcome.
Callum Ross is an up and coming talent out of Glasgow, who has been itching for more air time in 2020 – so the fact that he was wrestling in NPW’s first match of the new year surely brought a smile to his face. The two men shook hands before the bell, and competed in a fan friendly match to kick off the show. The European Style of Ross was something to behold – lots of strikes and unique submission holds. Fuentes was well versed in Lucha, and was able to escape danger quite frequently, and turn negative situations into positive. A misstep from Ross would allow Fuentes to catch him with a Death Valley Driver – which lead to Fuentes heading to the top rope and executing a perfect frog splash to secure the pinfall victory. Fuentes waited for Ross to gather himself, before extending his hand once again – to which Ross accepted.
Winner: Esteban Fuentes (5:48) via Frog Splash

Backstage, we watch as Malek Fredericks and KUMA approach Oxford Osland and I-69. Fredericks says that both Eric Dane Jr. and Marcus Smith were a pain in the neck, and now that Marcus is overseas, they’re looking to get their hands on EDJ uninhibited. Malek reiterates that he would like for Osland and I-69 to leave them their scraps after tonight’s match. Osland agrees, saying he would be more than happy to do so.
KUMA pipes up and reminds the group that Sato Watanabe and The Shining Stars are still back home in Japan finishing up a tour, and aren’t at the arena. This brings a sinister smile to Osland’s face. ‘Perfect’ he said, before the scene fades away.

Willard Manchester vs. Eric Carlson
15 Minute Time Limit
--
Manchester hit the ring with a mic and said that he would become a 2-time winner of the Cruiserweight Cup, and in order to get into the proper frame of mind, he wanted a tune up match. He said he didn’t want some ‘chop’ from the lower card, he was talking about someone who was worth his weight in this business. This prompted Eric Carlson to make his way to the top of the ramp and accept the challenge. Eric wasn’t along though, as he brought his Eastern Elite cohort; Allan Algar to ringside with him. Manchester asked why having his partner at ringside was necessary, was it for a ‘little more than moral support’. Carlson took this as a sign of disrespect, and rushed the ring to get a jumpstart on his opponent.
The fight was on, and it was evenly matched for the most part. Manchester might’ve met his match when it comes to mat wrestling in the Cruiserweight Division, as Eric Carlson proved he was no slouch in that department. Algar was on the outside, and he was shouting instructions looking to gain any kind of advantage possible for his teammate. Manchester didn’t take too kindly to this, and spouted off a few times for Algar to mind his own business.
When the referee’s back was turned, Algar got up on the apron and took a swing at Manchester, which was blocked, he then proceeded to shove Algar off of the apron onto the arena floor. Algar popped back up and slid under the bottom rope, the referee saw this and called for the bell. Carlson and Algar didn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that the referee was disqualifying them for their actions. It appeared as though they had grown tired of Manchester’s claim to be the top Cruiserweight in the world, as both of them fall within the same weight class. The referee did his best to separate the two sides, but not before Algar and Carlson executed a spike piledriver on Manchester.
Winner: Willard Manchester (10:12) via DQ.
--
A few more officials from the back hit the ring to ensure that this squabble didn’t get more out of hand. Carlson could be heard telling Manchester to find himself a partner so he could step into ‘their world’. The Eastern Elite duo walked off with their hands raised, and let on as if they’d won the battle.
--
Backstage, Eric Dane Jr. was in his ring attire about to head to the ring. He was looking into locker room doors as he passed them though, perhaps looking to find Sato Watanabe who had recently agreed to start training him. That was until he walked past Myles and Martin Alexander – The Roughnecks.
The Canadian Redneck duo spat on the floor beside EDJ and asked him if he was lost. EDJ puffed out his chest, and told them to back off or else he would go get Watanabe over here to even the score. This brought laughter from the brothers, as they reminded EDJ of how stupid he was. They told him in their country east coast accents that he wasn’t in the building tonight. They burst out laughing, as it was clear that the second generation star was none the wiser. Martin Alexander spoke up and told “EDJ’ that they would let him off easy tonight, and normally he would be beaten to a pulp for talking back to them. Martin reminded ‘EDJ’ of what was waiting for him in the ring tonight – an angry and vengeful former champion. Martin and Myles walkthrough Eric Dane Jr. on their way past him. We watch as ‘EDJ’ takes a minute to digest this information. He spends a moment pumping himself up, before taking those last few ‘brave’ steps towards the curtain.

Canadian Commonwealth Championship
30 Minute Time Limit
Oxford Osland© vs. Eric Dane Jr.
--
As EDJ waited for Osland In the ring, it quickly became evident that there wasn’t ever any intent for the Canadian Commonwealth Champion to take this match seriously. Osland walked to the ring with Allan Joseph and Wayne Sherlock, and as soon as they reached the ringside area, Osland slid under the ring and locked eyes with his opponent. Osland then snapped his fingers, as Sherlock and Joseph circled the ring from opposite angles. EDJ started to backup, but quickly realized there wasn’t anywhere to go. The referee was about to call for the bell to start the match, But Osland kicked him in the gut and delivered a nasty DDT instead.
Osland’s face curled into a smirk, as he stalked EDJ. Before long, Sherlock and Joseph slid into the ring and blindsided the second generation wrestler. As EDJ fell to the ground, he was blistered with stomps from the I-69 duo. Osland was orchestrating the attack by giving orders to his men on what he wanted them to do. A double powerbomb followed that wiped EDJ out completely. The fans were disgusted, as they watched this 3 on 1 attack take place with very little resistance. Osland reached down and grabbed EDJ by the hair, his body lifeless before taking him down with a backdrop driver!
The double powerbomb was enough offence to render EDJ helpless, and the Backdrop Driver was insult to injury. But they weren’t done there. Osland picked EDJ’s limp body up, and tied him up in the ropes. EDJ was unconscious and unable to defend himself, but that seemed to exactly what Osland wanted. You could hear Osland chastising EDJ, and mocking his inclusion in NPW as nothing more than a ‘handout’. Osland said that EDJ’s inclusion in NPW was lowering the credibility of the brand, and that he was here to ‘run him out of town.’ Before Osland could raise his hand and deliver another unprotected blow…
[Tyson Brewer.]
[Brinley Bishop.]
[Pressure Point.]
[RRAAAAAHAHHHHHHH!]
Tyson Brewer and Eric Dane Jr. had a successful partnership in Northern Pro Wrestling in early 2019. The partnership was cut short when Brewer was signed by Midwestern Pro. The fans watched, as this impressive Tag Team rushed to the ring to even the odds. Bishop’s history with Oxford Osland is well documented, and most recently; Brewer and Bishop have been asked to keep I-69 in check at Elimination Games as well as the Anniversary show.
Brewer hit the ring first, followed only a split second later by Bishop, and the two strapping lads went to work. Sherlock and Joseph tried to cut them off, but they were each met with rights and lefts, before being taken head over heels with double overhead release belly to belly suplexes. Sherlock was sent through the ropes with the impact, while Joseph laid crumpled up in the corner. Osland was visibly shaken, but attempted to rake Bishop’s eyes to buy himself some time – but his attempt was blocked by Brewer who rushed in with a right hand that bucked Osland to his knees. Bishop looked over at his tag team partner and thanked him – before running forward and nailing Osland with a knee strike, which also sent him out of the ring!
The crowd was on their feet! Finally, someone was willing to step up and align themselves with Eric Dane Jr. they thought. After months of being mocked and rejected, it seemed as though he had finally found two allies he could rely on. His friendship with Tyson Brewer had to be the tipping point, as the two men remained loyal to eachother for months in the face of many challenges. Brewer would immediately unwrap EDJ from the ropes, and slap him in the face just hard enough to wake him from his slumber. As EDJ came to, he realized that he was standing amongst friends, and he could breath a sigh of relief. At least that’s what a normal person might do – instead, EDJ asked Brewer to catapult him out of the ring – so EDJ took of like he was shot out of a cannon – he hit the ropes and Brewer and Bishop both launched him and in one fell swoop he hit a shooting star press in mid-air from the ring to the arena floor! He stuck the landing, and totally wiped out Oxford Osland.
The crowd was losing their minds at the sheer athletic ability mixed with the revenge factor. EDJ stayed on the floor, to lay a few extra shots into Osland. I-69 were looking to find a way to get back into the ring as well, which caught the attention of Pressure Point, who encouraged them to keep the fight going. Then through the crowd, the odds shifted once again.
[The Shooters Club.]
Malek Fredericks and KUMA came through the crowd and blindsided Brewer and Bishop with the help of the I-69 distraction. Before long, we had a 4 on 2 situation in the ring, which ended up being too difficult for the two men to fight off. EDJ noticed this, and to his credit, did his best to make it 4 on 3 by launching himself from the apron into harms way. The only issue was, Fredericks saw it coming and super-kicked EDJ in the chops while he was in mid-air. KUMA locked Bishop’s arms up, and allowed Sherlock to blister away on his chest with chops. Brewer was doing his best to fight off Fredericks and Joseph, but the cagey veterans went low, and took out his legs.
By now, Osland was coming to, and he entered the ring to find that the odds were once again in their favour, and boy did he ever start taking liberties with Pressure Point and Eric Dane Jr. Osland grabbed Bishop his cheeks, before backhanding him with as much force as possible. Osland told Joseph to take one of Brewer’s legs while he took the other, and they wish-boned him! The crowd was starting to lose faith, until…

[RAAAAAAAHHHHHH~!!]
It was as if Osland had seen a ghost, as the former World Champion and International Superstar jogged to the ring. Osland did his best to call off his men, so they could focus on Dusty, who rolled his shoulders, before entering the ring in a calm manner. The fans started to chant for him.]
[Dus-ty!]
[Dus-ty!]
In a flash, I-69 rushed forward, but they were taken out by a pair of twin lariats! The impact shook the ring, as each man did a 360 before folding to the mat. Dusty got in a three point stance and rushed at KUMA, taking the big man down with a nasty shoulder block! Shock was ensue, as nobody has rushed through the Canadian Grizzly with such force that the NPW audience has seen. Fredericks rushed forward and was elevated with a pop-up powerbomb for his troubles. I-69 attempted a blindside attack, but Dusty saw it developing in his periphery, and discus punched both men before finishing the attack off with a back elbow smashes for each. Osland thought about attacking, but instead rolled out of the ring like he had seen a ghost. He went over to the time keeper, and grabbed his Canadian Commonwealth Championship, without ever taking his eyes off of The Wild Bronco.
Osland walked over to his men, and told them it was time to fight another day. By this time Tyson Brewer, Brinley Bishop and Eric Dane Jr. were getting to their feet. All three of them looked over at Dusty in awe, and with respect. Bishop and Brewer both nodded and bowed slightly to Dusty, who has earned his Superstar Status by reigning over the world of professional wrestling for more than a decade. The only person who seems to be a little confused is Eric Dane Jr. He senses that this is a big deal, but he doesn’t quite understand why. Dusty walks over to the second generation wrestler and slaps him on the chest lightly. EDJ looks absolutely dumbfounded, and he looks to Tyson Brewer for an answer – Brewer shrugs his shoulders to signify that he’s not sure what to make of this either.
Dusty turns his attention to Brewer as they two men lock eyes. Dusty gives him a ‘knowing glare’ before brushing past him to lock eyes with Brewer – Brewer fights the urge to speak, as he lets Dusty take the lead in this situation. Dusty sizes him up, before nodding slightly. And with that, Dusty rolled out of the ring and slapped hands with a few of the fans in the front row before disappearing backstage.
EDJ looks over at the two men that make up ‘Pressure Point’ and acknowledges that he doesn’t know what would’ve happened to him without their assistance. Brewer extends his hand to the man he rode up and down the road with for 4 months. Once they shook hand, Brinley Bishop follows suit. It’s clear that after tonight, a line in the sand was drawn, and the days of Oxford Osland & I-69 getting away scot free are numbered.
The crowd then started to buzz as it was likely time to address to elephant in the room, and that was that Oxford Osland was no longer the North American Champion. Before Gus could get a word in, Osland interrupted him with a mic in his hand.
