{NPW 4th Annual Cruiserweight Cup Day 3}
January 29, 2022
Scotiabank Arena in Halifax, NS,
Roy Harlowe vs Danny Ray
Roleplay #1 "Unanswered Prayer's"
The scene opens up to an empty house littered with trash, half-empty take-out containers, and bone-dry whiskey bottles. The small ancient tv covered in dust plays without any sound as Danny Ray sits in an old broken-down recliner reading a letter from his soon-to-be ex-wife. There are just a few pictures scattered around the house a couple on the wall and a few on shelves or tables, a glass bookcase filled with Danny Rays hard-earned championships sits in the backroom with an old tattered sheet over it, as he doesn't want any reminders of the good days.
The sound of the small heater clicking on and off radiates throughout the place as a winter storm has covered everything from the pine needles on the decades-old pine trees to the ancient old Oak trees, to the once bright glistening green pine needles to the multi-color oak leaves now covered in a shiny white powder has his property looking like a winter wonderland even if the inside looks like a scene from a horror story.
He places the letter down as he grabs another quarter full whiskey bottle taking a long drink while trying to hold back the emotions that want to erupt from within him. Just as a couple of tears begin to fall a knock can be heard at his front door. He shakes his head gathering his thoughts as he wipes his face before getting up to answer the door. As he opens the door a familiar face greets him.
Danny Ray: Hey, what the hell are you doing here? You work for those jack*ss's at that joke of a Network.
The woman stands there along with what appears to be a cameraman still smiling as she waits for him to invite them in.
Danny Ray: Well, I guess you're not going to say, but you all might as well come on inside, Angela.
They all walk in and head into the living room area, Danny ray knocks the junk from the couch and points to it letting them know they can have a seat.
Danny Ray: So what brings the world-renowned Angela DeWitt to this crappy little town and to my dump?
Angela DeWitt: My job actually, I no longer work for Dark Horse Industries or that one network, can't remember its name but it doesn't matter it wasn't anything great anyways. I now work as a journalist for "The Wrestling Scoop" magazine. So when I heard you debuted at NPW's 4th Annual Cruiserweight Cup show on day one I knew I needed to get an interview with you.
She motions for her cameraman to start rolling, Danny Ray sits back looking her over before waving his hands and agreeing to do the interview.
Danny Ray: Okay, okay, ask your questions, I have nothing better to do.
Angela DeWitt: Great, great so what brought you back to wrestling and why Northern Pro Wrestling and the CWA Network?
Danny Ray: Where to begin, well I got tired of waiting around to die, I was tired of hearing about how great everyone in Northern Pro Wrestling is and how wonderful the CWA is. I'm tired of watching everyone get what they want while I have nothing. So it was the perfect place for me to go and take what I want.
A smile comes across the face of the cameraman as he listens to the once happy-go-lucky "Family Man" talk about taking what he wants. Angela sits there listening to what's being said as she wonders what's truly going through his head.
Angela DeWitt: Waiting to die! What do you mean by that, plus it's just been announced that you will be facing none other than Roy Harlowe on day three of the 4th Annual Cruiserweight Cup?
Danny Ray: You will see soon enough but as for "The Sorrow", I know him and his story, daddy didn't show him enough love as a child, boo woo, cry me a damn river. At least he had a father, one that didn't beat him and his mother, seems as if that joke of a network got released him as well. So, my in-ring debut in NPW will be against some whinny millennial snowflake who believes he is some kind of demon sorcerer.
Danny Ray: Well, I can say is I hope he can fight, I hope he can give me a beating I can't come back from, but I also hope he can take one as well.
Danny Ray stands up as he grabs the whiskey bottle, finishing what's inside. Angela looks at the cameraman with worry in her eyes.
Angela DeWitt: I noticed in your debut on day one, you referred to yourself as "The Man Left Behind", what has happened to the jolly, fun-loving "Family Man" the world grew to love and respect?
As she finishes her question Danny Ray slams the bottle against the wall as he grabs his head turning away from her, while he begins to speak. The Cameraman continues to record everything.
Danny Ray: "The Family Man", "The Family Man", he no longer exists, there is no longer a family, they all left me, they deserted me. As for respect and love whoever respected me and whoever truly loved me,? NO ONE!
Danny Ray: I believe this interview is over, but before you go let me tell you this, family is overrated, God doesn't care what happens to you and wrestling will be my time to end things. So on day three, I will face "The Sorrow" and I will give him a real reason to feel sorrow. Try to remember there's no need to pray either as unanswered prayers are the best thing sometimes.
Angela thanks him as she and the cameraman are escorted to the door "The Man Left Behind" turns without saying goodbye or anything slamming the door as he heads back to his broken-down recliner.
