Notes:
- The crowd was quite boisterous from the moment the show started. 'Wild Bronco' chants filled the arena, as the BRAVE faithful showed their allegiance to arguably the most successful Gaijin talent to compete in Japan over the past fifteen years. Before the first match, Satoshi Watanabe appeared on the stage flanked by Tetsu Kondo and Kano Ito - collectively known as the The Shining Stars. The former BRAVE tag team champions and their leader stared at the crowd, looking to intimidate them. A hush fell over the crowd, waiting to see what their next move would be. When the sound level was at an acceptable level, the three men walked away. Their message was clear.
- Hideki Sakamoto has been on a tear since he debuted with BRAVE last fall. He's been gradually working his way up the ladder in the Jr. Heavyweight Division and has looked like a threat to anyone who stands in front of him. After picking up an unexpected win over The Black Jaguar at the last event, Sakamoto would step up to wrestle Jaguar's 'Speed Dragon' tag team partner; White Light II. Once again proving his worth, Sakamoto took White Light II's best shots, and kept coming. The crowd was totally immersed in this fifteen minute battle, and the pace was lightning fast. White Light II and Akihiro Sagawa are widely considered the two best Jr. Heavyweight's in the company, and Sakamoto just proved that he belongs in the conversation with those two as the best that BRAVE Has to offer. White Light II offered to shake Sakamoto's hand at the conclusion of the match, but his request was denied. The Crowd voiced their displeasure
- It has been a few months since we've seen Crossfire. The Sumo Wrestler turned professional wrestler has been working diligently to enhance his skills behind the scenes. The fans have been asking for updates, so Mr. Inoue thought it might be time to unveil some of the new tricks of the trade that Crossfire has picked up in training. Three of the young lions from the BRAVE dojo were summoned to attack and take Crossfire out at any cost. The big man was up for the challenge and kept his opponents at bay. Eventually, they all fell victim to massive sidewalk slam's from Crossfire and he stock piled the bodies in the middle of the ring before asking the referee to count everyone's shoulders to the mat. Impressive to say the least.
- Takeshi Uehara returned from injury last show and he was hot on the tails of The Shadow Warriors. A few months back, Hirota and Okamoto made an examples of the big man from Okinawa and put him out of action for nearly three months. Uehara returned to cost them their Tag Team Championship opportunity, and returned sporting a new look. His hair was styled, he had shed twenty five pounds, and looked like he hadn't missed a day in the gym. He reunited with his tag team partner Fija for this contest, and acquired the services of upstart Haru Tanaka for this battle. The Shadow Warriors were still seething after having their championship quest taken away from them. Uehara insisted on starting the match, and he had his team on the positive side of things for the first five minutes of the match. The tide would turn with some slick double teaming efforts from the Shadow Warriors, highlighted by a double powerbomb which was executed brilliantly by the former All-Asia Tag Team Champions; Okamoto and Hirota. Kuri Herutsu was actively sought out by the 'SW' outfit, and became a full fledged member in December in Las Vegas. Their investment in the top notch striker has paid dividends, as it would be Herutsu who would score a vicious KO win in this contest. The referee stopped the bout to preserve the long term health of Gakuto Fija. It was clear he was out-cold before he hit the mat. In stunning fashion - The Shadow Warriors picked up another impressive victory and don't seem too eager to give up their spot t the top of the marquee.
- The roof was completely gone when Dusty Griffith walked towards the ring for this SUPER FIGHT against Satoshi Watanabe. Watanabe is widely regarded as the most vicious wrestler in the company with a strong resume that precedes him. Rumours of these two men crossing paths in the past were brought to the surface when this match was announced. Some described hints of jealousy within Watanabe, as his home country had seemingly adopted an outsider as one of their own. The match itself was as hard-hitting as you'll find. Watanabe is giving up about 25 pounds and two inches to Dusty, but he was giving it as well as he was taking it. Watanabe was trying to break Dusty down, and was using leg locks to keep the big man grounded. Dusty is astute in all areas of grappling, and would eventually find the opportunity to circumvent Satoshi's offence with solid defence. Once Dusty found his groove, it was only a matter of time. The packed house were on their feet, and chanting in unison - WILD BRONCO, WILD BRONCO! After a scramble and a series of knife edge chops, Watanabe dove forward looking to secure a double-leg takedown. Dusty brought his knee up in time to stun Watanabe - before lifting him up into the lights and driving him down with extreme force with his patented 'Atomic Powerbomb'. The three count followed, and the party ensued.
Reactions:
- KUMA has been fighting his way back from injury, and made it clear he was there to watch Dusty Griffith in action. When KUMA got his start in Northern Pro Wrestling, Dusty Griffith was there in passing. Once Dusty had assisted Jay Stevens in his battles with 'Bloodline' - Dusty was back on the road again. But not before the Canadian Grizzly stalked him and attacked him. Dusty would give KUMA what he wanted, which was the measuring stick he had been seeking. KUMA credits Dusty for giving him a fresh outlook and perspective. Right after he was humbled, KUMA took his training much more serious, and sought Gus Arnold and 'The Warehouse' to hopefully help him turn the corner in his career. Fast forward six months, and KUMA returned to action and teamed with Dusty on a couple of occasions before the two went their separate ways. KUMA made sure to speak to the media about Dusty's presence at the event, and how it was a MAJOR deal. Clearly even the baddest men on the planet have been known to be starstruck in the presence of The Bad Man From Boise.
- White Light II spoke highly of Hideki Sakamoto's skill. White Light II said that he was willing to entertain a rematch with him at anytime. When pressed; WLII said that he felt as though he found a few holes in his game as the match wore on. Something he hoped to showcase when they met again.
- The BRAVE Tag Team Champions; Kenneth Marshall and Roger Stevens were on hand to watch the 6 man grudge match closely. They are well aware that another match with two of the Shadow Warriors was imminent, and they were going to be well prepared when it was signed.
- The arena was buzzing throughout the main event, and the people left happy. It's always a good sign for a promotion the size of BRAVE to be able to secure the services of an International Superstar to come in for a shot or two when they're available. With Dusty Griffith back full-time, it appears as though his phone keeps ringing and he's finally willing to answer it. This would be Satoshi Watanabe's first defeat in nearly 18 months, as Dusty stopped him dead in his tracks. If we know anything about Watanabe, it's that he's liable to come back stronger, faster and meaner the next time out. With talks of the BRAVE Heavyweight Championship Tournament coming this spring, one would surmise that Satoshi Watanabe would have his sights firmly set on winning it all.
