Once again the camera feed opens up with Eddie sitting at the head of the table in the club house.
“I wish to make something perfectly clear from the get go! I don't hate nor like Xiaolong. I respect the fact that he is a hell of a competitor himself, in his own right. He has managed to do multiple times what I never got the chance to do, to beat the reigning North American Cruiserweight Champion in the ring.”
Eddie is currently a short sleeve hoodie, with the hood up, only just showing the bottom of his bandana.
“So keep that in mind. Xialong has said that he would like this to be a classic cruiserweight match. Rather than a straight out fight. This is how it is going to go down. You can come out to the ring first, take as long as you wish to soak up the reaction of the crowd. Let the fact that you will be wrestling for the vacant Cruiserweight title sink into your thoughts. When you ready I will come out, as soon as that bell rings, you are not someone that I respect on some level, you are not the one of the highest ranking cruiserweights in NPW. You are nothing more than a roadblock put in front of me winning the Cruiserweight title.”
Taking a moment, Eddie looks down at the table as he moves to the side of his chair. Leaning his elbow on the arm of the chair.
“ I said a long time ago that I would beat Rob Garcia for the title. Or anyone else if he lost the title. It is kinda fitting that I will face the guy that put the former champion on the injured list. You say that you would like a classic Cruiserweight match for the title. To be honest with you bud, I don't really care what match we have, whether it is a classic cruiserweight match, a submission match, last man standing match or Iron Man match.”
Eddie at this point just seems to be oozing confidence.
“You see I am more than confident in my ability to wrestle any type of match and still proclaim that I am going to walk out with that championship over my shoulder. All you have to do is look over my match record. Officially I have only lost one single match. I say “officially” as I was pinned, nor did I tap out to Jay Stevens in the match at the last show.”
The confidence is quickly replaced by frustration. Frustration at not being able to close the deal and become the Cruiserweight Cup winner.
“Losing the chance to call myself the 2022 Cruiserweight Cup winner. It is a lot to deal with, as my shoulders were not pinned to the canvas for a 3 count at any point. Nor did I tap out to any submission move at any point during the match. No, the match was awarded to Stevens after I passed out, due to the time that I was held in the submission. No shame in that at all. More pissed that I didn't win the tournament this year.”
Slowly his mood starts to change back to the usal confinet version that we have grown accustomed to over the past few months.
“Seriously, I have to ask you one question. Do you seriously think you can do what Willard Manchester, Jay Stevens, Juluis Fisk, James Knight and Vincent Wolf could not do. Trust me when I say it won't be an easy task to complete. Pound for pound I am one of the toughest on the roster, the Iron Man of the Cruiserweight Cup.let me tell you, If you walk into the ring actually thinking that you are going to walk out with the win, it will be as easy as a walk in the park. Then you might as well forfeit the match now, cause as the match goes on you will lose all of your confidence and start to deal with yourself and your abilities.”
As the camera feed dies, the door to the room opens, as Bobby, Cade and Cole walk in and take their normal seats at the table.
“Good timing boys, I had just finished up. How have things been during my absence?”
Eddie sits back in chair as he waits for a response.
“The side business is starting to pay off. Profit is up. The charity project are in full swing, it is keeping the non members busy”
Eddie looks to his right at Bobby.
“What about the other members and prospects?”
“We have lost two of the prospects over the last month. The rest have really managed to find their feet and settle into their duties.”
Eddie noddes in response, before he looked down the table towards the seat on the other side of Bobby.
“How about the garage?”
Cole briefly sat forward on his chair leaning his far elbow on the table top.
“That is making a nice profit at the moment, we have recently opened a bike wash as well.”
Eddie takes the moment to seat forward on his chair resting both forearms on the table top.
“Good seems that everything is in safe hands, just as I know it would be.”
Taking a brief moment to look around the room at his brothers.
“As you are already aware that I didn't manage to win the Cruiserweight Cup. However due to me proformance I have earned myself a Cruiserweight Championship shot. Unfortunately it is not against the champion. I will be facing off against another high ranking contender for the vacant title. I will have to take some time to prepare for this match.”
Cade swung his chair around to the left, to address Eddie in person.
“I suggest that we go back to the basics this time, we have a barn next door that we are hardly losing. Rather than renting out a gym again”
Eddie nodded in agreement
