Before our event got underway, the fans were directed to the big screen where former Canadian Heritage Champion Gordon Carlson was seen talking with Gus Arnold in his office. Since Carlson lost his title at End of Days in October, he ventured out away from Northern Pro Wrestling, feeling as though he wanted to prove himself beyond wrestling for a Canadian Company. While Carlson travelled to Japan, and made appearances in Destiny Wrestling - it had been nearly three months since Gordon was blindsided backstage and waffled in the back of the head with a steel chair.
While the unknown assailant has yet to reveal himself, the act itself put Gordon Carlson on the injured list with a concussion. The crowd cheered, as one of the original Northern Pro stalwarts and his mentor were in good spirits.
Carlson: "It's good to be back."
Arnold: "The door is always open."
Carlson: "I was hoping you might say that."
Arnold: "What's on your mind?"
Carlson: "The XHF Trios Championships coming to Northern Pro Wrestling."
Arnold: "Yes, I can't wait. A groundbreaking new division that is set to launch in just about two months time."
Carlson: "I want in."
Arnold: "I see. Well, I will reserve a spot for you. As for your partners?"
Carlson: "I have my eye on someone. The guy reminds me of myself five years ago, but is much further along than I was."
Arnold: "Very Interesting. The Other?"
Carlson: "I've travelled the world over the past three years and have come across some of the best talent in the world. Talent that hasn't been seen here in Canada, or the XHF Network for that matter. Stay tuned."
Arnold leaned back in his chair and rubbed his chin. The two men carried on, getting reacquainted. Our scene then faded out.

Gaz Maybury vs Kono vs Leon Van Zandt
--
A really unusual mix of styles in this one, with the classically trained catch wrestler (LVZ) taking on the strike-centric strong styler wrestler (Kono) and both of them against the southern brawler with a tad of Lancashire to back it up (Gaz).
The problem with submission centric grappling in a three way is that when you’re applying a submission you open yourself up for a cheap shot. LVZ was visibly uncomfortable in this environment, and he kept to his corner as Kono, proud warrior that he is, attacked Maybury. Assorted roundhouse kicks blasted Maybury in his slightly excessive gut.
He was trying to stay away from those hands of stone, and he proved why it was a smart strategy when Gaz nearly spun him around from a blocked shot. Kono doubled Maybury over, tried a hiplock takeover, and couldn’t get the big man with his low center of gravity over. Maybury lifted Kono into the air, Kono hit a knee to avoid being back dropped, landed on his feet, Gaz shoved him towards the corner, coincidentally the one LVZ was in.
Kono put on the brakes, said something, LVZ responded, whatever it was Kono didn’t like it and pasted him. LVZ immediately shot in for a takedown - Kono thought he had the single leg takedown stuffed but LVZ worked his way around behind Kono and applied a cravatte headlock. LVZ was so expert at positioning himself that Kono couldn’t get the angle to throw a knee strike or the leverage to throw a good punch. But, as was already mentioned, these three way dances leave you open.
Seeing Maybury coming in, LVZ got the boot up to stun him, used the cravatte to suplex Kono, and intercepted a Maybury lariat attempt with a Saito suplex. LVZ immediately went for the Sugar Hold, but Maybury was able to hold him off long enough that Kono hit LVZ from behind with a running knee strike.
Before Kono could follow up, Maybury hit him with a rugby tackle and went to work with some grounded punches. Ground n’ pound being something of Kono’s wheelhouse he was able to work his way free and start throwing shots of his own, but he was struggling with his 70 lb weight disadvantage. Switching gears he started working towards the Air of Death, but he was also keeping an eye on LVZ, and LVZ started getting up before he had the hold cinched in.
He abandoned his efforts on Maybury and started delivering muy thai roundhouse kicks to the backs of LVZ’s legs. A particularly stiff kick took LVZ’s legs all the way out from under him.
As Kono turned back to Maybury, Maybury lunged forward for his legs, making an attempt at the Main Event Spinebuster! Maybury was moving slowly though, and Kono managed to apply a standing guillotine choke. Maybury wobbled on his feet then fell forward, Kono managing to hold onto the choke, but the ref started counting the pinfall as Kono’s shoulders were down. He rolled Maybury over trying to turn it into a guillotine headlock pin. One, TWO, and LVZ managed to break it up with a diving sledgehammer.
Kono and LVZ both rose to their feet, and again Kono easily took control of the situation with his striking game. He did try clinching up but LVZ hit a European uppercut that rocked him, so Kono again resorted to shoot kicks to the ribs and legs. He was getting predictable though, and as he went for a right leg kick LVZ did a quick sidestep and dove in for a single leg. As he lifted Kono into the air with the intent of suplexing him, Maybury lurched off the mat with a diving kind of shoulderblockery spear kind of thing that folded LVZ in half and landed all three of them in a heap. Kono took the least of it and, identifying LVZ as the lighter of his opponents, lined up the Kono Driver.
LVZ got his hands on the top rope though, and the flapjack part didn’t work. LVZ smashed a back elbow into Kono’s face and, grabbing him by the belt, slung him out of the ring. He turned on Maybury, blocked a right haymaker with some intricate armwork and suddenly had Maybury tied up in a double underhook. He tried to lift him, couldn’t get it, Maybury tried to backdrop him, LVZ shifted his weight, and as he landed he used that little bit of extra momentum to get Maybury up and over with the butterfly suplex! LVZ rolled back into the cover. Kono dived for the save, but LVZ, savvy as he is, had suplexed Maybury to the far corner of the ring, and Kono’s desperate dive came up short.
Winner: Leon Van Zandt via butterfly suplex pin (9:16)

Jay Stevens vs. Bryan Chase vs. Dexter Payne
--
The following OpenWeight Tournament round one match was beginning. "Fireproof" by Pillar blared over the sound system. Out first was Jay Stevens, a man not unfamiliar to the tournament style dealings of Northern Pro Wrestling. His recent adventure in the CruiserWeight Cup showed Jay Stevens meant business and was able to chase the dream he set out to. He came up short, but the passion was undeniable, and his efforts were not to be diminished for not taking home the win.
Next was his opponent, Bryan Chase. Another member of the Northern Pro locker room who had dipped his toes in the success pool and was looking for another opportunity to. Bryan came out to the ring with confidence, all 5’10” and 202 pounds of him. Rolling into the ring, he jumps up and taunts for the Canadian audience, showing some flare before stretching.
The third man’s music hits and nobody comes to the ring. The referee looks on confused, until the ring announcer comes over and shares something with him on the apron. Letting the other two men know, the referee obliges to the changes and the wrestlers appear okay with it, and go to their respective corners.
A singles match will decide the OpenWeight Tournament first round for Jay Stevens and Bryan Chase, as Dexter Payne never made it to the arena. The bell tolls and both men circle the ring, opposing one another with a stare. Bryan goes for the elbow and collar tie-up, but Stevens slips behind him, waist lock control, before being forced into a corner by Bryan. Jay breaks the hold to allow Chase to get out of the corner.
The two men lock up again, and this time Jay goes under Bryan’s left arm, grabs him by the legs and takes him to the canvas. Spinning on his back with his chest, Jay maneuvers himself to the front of Bryan Chase’s body and grapples a headlock, that Bryan immediately pushes himself up to his feet in. Bryan rushes Jay to the ropes, hoping to break the hold, but Stevens does not and wrenches it in some more. Bryan does all he can with strikes before he grabs Jay by the waist and back body drops him onto the canvas with a bridge!
A two count with a kick out from Jay. Both men get to their feet, Jay holding his neck, as Bryan rushes for a clothesline and connects. Chase reaches down and grabs Jay by the neck, pulling him up and slamming him into the turnbuckle. Body shots and a kick to the gut, Bryan Chase lifts Stevens up to the top rope. Springboard from the ropes, Chase wraps his legs around Stevens neck, and Stevens holds the top rope causing Bryan to crash to the canvas! Jay stands up on the top rope, and hits an elbow drop!
Cover for the count, and Bryan kicks out at two. Jay looks down, and sees he is wearing down Chase, so he lifts him up by the neck in a DDT position and maneuvers him around the ring, controlling the neck and head. When he gets to the center of the ring, Jay delivers a hellacious snap suplex, rolling over though, he brings Chase back up to his feet for another!
The third suplex goes up and he bridges on the fall! Shoulder up, as Jay only just misses out on the fall for the win. Bryan Chase is worn down, and begins to get to his feet, struggling as he does. Jay gets behind him, locks up with his waist and goes for a german suplex, but Bryan grabs the top rope, holding it. The referee comes to count Jay and tell him to break the hold, Bryan loses grip with one hand, he’s holding on my finger tips! He grabs the referee and as he does, he low blows Jay Stevens!
Bryan Chase grabs the referee and turns him towards the ropes as Jay drops to the canvas holding himself. Chase plays it off like “You need to do your job! That was an illegal hold!” all the meanwhile he’s getting away with the low blow like he was a jewelry thief.
Bryan goes to the top rope and moonsaults off on the unsuspecting Jay Stevens! Knees up! Jay gets the knees up last moment, causing Bryan Chase to buckle at the waist and roll off Jay Stevens in agony! Jay rolls over, the two climb using one another to get to their feet, and it’s Bryan who swings first, Jay ducks it, gets behind him for another German, but Bryan reverses and Jay elbows him in the face before spinning around to lock his grip - BELLY-TO-BELLY!

The referee signals for the bell as Jay Stevens takes home the win after a hard fought contest with Bryan Chase. What was to be a triple threat ended up being a singles match that Jay Stevens was ready for. One-on-one Stevens was lethal, and his track record continued to prove that. As his arm is raised, Bryan Chase rolls off the apron, glaring up at him, a look of dissatisfaction on his face.
Winner: Jay Stevens using the Belly-to-Belly! (12:15)

Andy Donohue vs. D vs. Jeff Gilliam
--
A lot of unknowns coming into this contest. This would be our first look at both Jeff Gilliam and D in an NPW ring. Moreover, Andy Donohue is a fresh face, and newly signed from just a couple of months back. All three were looking to make a lasting impression, and use this opportunity to catapult their respective careers.
The three way dance is always such a tough one to call. How long will people choose to work together? Will there be a divide and conquer strategy? One this is for sure, Andy Donohue is built, and likely the most powerful man on the NPW roster. He's an absolute freak athlete.
Gilliam showed no fear, as he dove right into the fire with Andy, and held his own. 'D' looked on, waiting for his chance to get involved. It seemed as though he wanted the fight to come to him, and he wasn't going to do anything he didn't feel was natural and comfortable.
After a few minutes of trading shots, Gilliam and Andy noticed that it was just the two of them engaging, and Andy nodded to Jeff about joining forces. Why not? respect is forged in battle, and while the match was young, both men were going for the kill early.
Andy lunged at D, who executed a drop toe hold. Gilliam dropped a leg from above while D was on the canvas, which stunted his attack. Gilliam stomped away for a moment, but D finally grabbed Jeff by the boot, twisted, and took him to the mat using a variation of an ankle lock.
Jeff was in pain, but Andy broke up the submission attempt. Andy used his strength to bully D against the ropes with chop. An Irish whip into a spine buster was an early highlight. Andy went for the cover, but Jeff broke up the pin.
It was a reminder that it was every man for themselves, and now that everyone had been tested, and pins were broken - it was time gear up for the long haul.
Andy went on the attack, and targeted Gilliam, who used the big man's eagerness against him with a quick side step, followed by a back elbow strike. Jeff hit the second rope quickly and came off with a jumping knee strike that dropped Andy.
D was coming to, and clocked Gilliam with a spinning heel kick to bide himself some time. D made the cover on Andy, but the big man powered out before two.
Gilliam checked to ensure his jaw was in place, before firing up and taking the fight to D. Gilliam had D bouncing off the ropes, and clobbered him with a nasty hook clothesline. A belly to belly suplex followed, and a near fall. Andy D was on his feet, and nodded to Jeff.
Before we knew it, D was being press slammed from the ring, down to the arena floor. The crowd gasped at the carnage as D fell into a major hump on the outside.
Andy then nodded to Jeff, and the two of them started to wage ware on one and other as they had earlier. Andy showed tremendous agility after a power slam, he actually went up top and executed a frog splash!
Andy admired his work, before picked Jeff up and executed a jackknife power bomb! Things weren't looking good. Andy walked towards the prone body of Gilliam about to make the pin when...
WHACK!!!
D was back in the ring and blistered Andy with a top rope missile dropkick that landed clean. The dropkick sent Andy through the ropes to the apron. D did a standing moonsault onto Gillaim and held for the cover!

DING DING DING
Winner: 'D' via Moonsault (11:54)
D exited the ring, business as usual. Andy was a split second away from breaking up the pin and looked distraught that he did all of the work, only to have D swoop in to steal his shine. Jeff Gilliam showed a lot of fire and heart, but was denied on this occasion. The future is bright for him though, should he be offered a contract to continue his journey in Northern Pro Wrestling.
The ref had to run to catch up to D, who was half way up the aisle before he officially had his hand raised. D moved with cat like quickness, and got out of dodge when the time was right. Very impressive debut, for D.
We fade away as Andy is kicking the ropes, looking as if someone just stole his livelihood. A temper on a man of that size can't be good for anyone. Say your prayers.

No Time Limit
Joe Ghaven vs. Eron Hunter vs. Joseph Mack
--
Out first is the Icelandic Powerbuilder, “Iron Bear” Joe Ghaven with his manager Ethan Mills behind him. The duo look incredibly opposite as Ghaven himself stands 6 feet 11 inches and is 400 pounds. Mills is much smaller in stature, but that takes nothing away from the Iron Bear who steps over the top rope and enters the ring.
Next out was Joseph Mack. Coming for another title, Joseph Mack shows no fear in the man who stands in the ring that has a few inches on him. On the contrary, Mack welcomes the challenge, not a stranger to the giants of Northern Pro’s locker room.
Last out is the reigning CruiserWeight Cup winner, Eron Hunter. His demeanor is no different than Mack’s, the look in his eyes showing he is the underdog and ready to find a way to slay the giants he faces tonight. Taking to the turnbuckle, he flips over the top rope and takes to his corner as the referee pats everyone down, runs over the rules, and calls for the bell.
Right off the bat Joseph Mack and Eron Hunter go after Ghaven, both working him over with punches and showing a solidarity in their approach to take the biggest man in this triple threat out of the equation. Mack gets a hearty clothesline on Ghaven, but it only rattles him. Hunter delivers a bouncing dropkick that staggers him some more. The two team up and go for a double clothesline on Ghaven but he breaks their hands with his massive frame and delivers a double clothesline of his own. Swatting Eron out of the ring, Haven scoops up Mack and body slams him on the canvas.
Hunter doesn’t care for the disrespect, and perches on the top turnbuckle as Ghaven turns around to be met with a high missile drop kick to the chin! Mack shakes off the scoop slam and chop blocks the back of Ghaven’s knee, finally staggering him down to one leg. Mack rushes the ropes and delivers a high shoulder tackle that knocks Ghaven down finally! Hunter looks at Mack and the two begin kicking the down man to make a point that he should stay there. They know full well he hasn’t endured enough to be out of this.
Ghaven shoves both men off of him as he begins to climb to his feet. Mack rushes in and clubs him in the back, Hunter goes for another drop kick but is swatted in mid air with a mighty palm from Iron Bear! Mack’s blow almost does no damage to the big man, as he goes for two more, and Ghaven turns around shaking his head. Ethan Mills sees Hunter crawling towards the ropes and pokes him in the eyes, before walking away from the scene of the crime.
Ghaven lifts Joseph Mack up and CHOKESLAM! The body slaps the canvas with authority! Ethan points to Hunter from outside and Ghaven goes to him and picks him up by the neck. Hunter is helpless in his hands as Joe Ghaven hoists him up into a powerbomb position! Hunter punches the face of Ghaven multiple times just as he reaches the top of the powerbomb, and Ghaven lifts him up further in the air by his shorts - but Eron drops down behind Ghaven and is able to escape!
Ethan yells from ringside to watch out, as Hunter springboards off the ropes and dropkicks the big man in the side of his knee as he turns! Ghaven bends awkwardly at the knee, and grabs it in pain from the move. Hunter uses the time to bounce off the ropes, and as Joseph Mack crawls to his knees, Hunter launches himself off of Mack’s back and shining wizard knee to the face on Joe Ghaven! The big man hits the ring canvas with a THUD!
Mack takes no liking in being used as a step stool, and as Hunter gets up, he grabs him and scoop slams him on top of Ghaven! The referee gets down to count, but Mack breaks it up after a one count.
Joseph Mack picks up Hunter and sends him to the corner, charging at him full speed to deliver a tackle! Hunter rolls out of the way at the last minute and Mack rushes into the corner turnbuckle! Hunter’s agility is the saving grace in what otherwise would have spelled his doom. Hunter comes out looking ready as Mack backs out of the corner and turns around to be AVALANCHED by Joe Ghaven!
Hunter’s eyes grow big as he sees Ghaven just smother Mack in the corner and the man he was waiting for appears to disappear behind the pure stature of Joe Ghaven. Hunter leans down and waits as Ghaven turns and basement dropkick to his shin! Ghaven stumbles around the ring, as Hunter runs up and grabs his neck and tornado DDT! But Ghaven throws Hunter into a corner like a bull bucking its rider, and Hunter hits with speed, bouncing out like a ping pong ball and getting clotheslined out of his boots by Ghaven. Just as Ghaven goes to pick him up, Mack comes up behind and jumps on his back locking in a choke hold, but the referee can’t tell with the big neck of Ghaven if it’s a sleeper or a choke. Mack seems to slow down the Iron Bear for a moment, and this allows Hunter time to regroup!
Rushing the ropes, Eron gets some momentum and runs and kicks the knee of Ghaven before planting a yakuza kick to his face! Mack yells that he almost hit him, but at this point he lets go and its Mack and Hunter standing 1 on 1 in the ring with Ghaven almost out of it near the ropes. Mack goes for an elbow collar tie-up, Hunter ducks under and grabs the waist, Mack reverses to get behind Hunter and goes to execute a release German suplex, Hunter lands on his feet and as Mack turns around tastes the facebuster of a life time!
Ghaven rolls to the apron, as Ethan Mills comes around to check on, yelling to get up. Eron ascends the turnbuckle nearest Ghaven, who now climbs up on the ropes from the outside apron. Standing with his back to the ring talking to Ethan Mills, Hunter jumps off the ropes, dropkicking Ghaven in the back, just enough that he kicks him off the apron and landing on Ethan, but also moonsaults from that dropkick into the ring onto Joseph Mack! The referee slides into position.
1!
2!
3!
Eron Hunter squeaks by with a win, as Mack kicks out just after the three is smacked on the canvas by the referee. Slapping the canvas, Joseph Mack looks unhappy with what has happened here. Eron Hunter gets up and has his arm raised.
Winner: Eron Hunter with a springboard dropkick into a moonsault! (14:39)
Mack holds the top rope as Eron Hunter exits the ring and heads up the ramp before Ghaven gets up. The two men lock eyes, and Joseph Mack points at him mouthing something, what fans say was “You better win this whole thing!” as a solidarity to losing to the next Open Weight Champion hopefully.

Special Attraction Match
20 Minute Time Limit
Lance Romance vs. Julius Fristik
--
As has become customary, Lance took a moment to serenade his opponent with a poem about his bad intentions, and how much he was set to dominate the affair. The tactic has a reputation of taking people off of their games. Would it work on this talented second generation star? Time will tell. Julius, looked the part, and we could sense that this was the biggest opportunity of his young career. All eyes were on him, a stand alone showcase match in the middle of a championship tournament.
Early on, the size and experience of Lance was enough to keep Julius on his heels. Lance even had a single leg crab locked in tight, but it would be Julius who used the push-up position to lessen the leverage, before mule kicking his way out of trouble. Julius then reached through the maze of extremities to roll and sweep Romance with no wasted motion. Julis took his ankle and stomped on Romance's inner thigh. The crowd loved it, and after the derogatory poem earlier in the match, Lance had it coming.
The fans seemed to value and approve of Julius, which wasn't the case when it came to his old man. The Canadian Nightmare had made quite a name for himself as an enforcer and intimidator. While 'JJ' wasn't present inside of the arena, one would assume he was quite proud that his son would be receiving this golden opportunity.
Julius brought the match back to a vertical base where he lit Lance up with strikes, before kicking him in the gut and driving him head first to the canvas with a nasty DDT. Julius hit the second rope and dropped a well placed elbow into lance's sternum. The sequence earned Julius a near fall.
Julius did as his old man would've, and grabbed a chin lock and wrenched with authority. Julius then stood and transitioned into a dragon sleeper position. This had Romance panicking, and scurrying to the ropes. Once there, Romance begged off, asking the referee for some reprieve, to which he received none. Julius irish whipped Lance into the far ropes and rushed forward and totally cleaned up with a nasty spear that he calls 'Shot of Truth'.
That might've been enough to seal the match, but for good measure Julius picked Lance off the mat and drove him down hard with the Alberta-Plex!
The referee held his position, and made the count when Julius hooked the leg. There was no movement from Lance, as the move landed clean with high impact. The bell rang, and the referee awarded the bout to Julius Fristik.
The fans stood, and applauded his efforts. We could sense that we were witnessing the birth of something special.
Julius took a business like approach and nodded to the referee, then the crowd, before exiting the ring and heading up the ramp to the backstage area.
Winner: Julius Fristik via Alberta Alex (5:37)

[Backstage.]
After voicing his displeasure with how his match was officiated, Andy Donohue was seen backstage speaking to his partner in crime, Chris Cavanagh. While the leader of The Celtic club couldn't be in attendance, he did himself and his crew proud by earning the Iron Man award of the XHF Rumble. Andy was amped up, and seemingly looking for trouble, and he found it.
[Gordon Carlson.]
As the two Celtic Club members seemed intent on voicing their opinions to Gus Arnold, they ran into Gordon Carlson, who was on his phone nearby the owner's office. When Carlson asked the two what they were looking for, they dismissed him. Trigger said that while they've heard of Gordon Carlson, his name doesn't carry any weight because he accomplished things in Northern Pro before they had signed their contracts.
Gordon did his best to keep his cool, but when he informed them that Gus was on the phone and in the middle of a very important meeting, they mocked him and called him Gus' secretary. When Gordon refused to allow them in the office, Trigger and Andy jumped Carlson and started laying waste to him in the hallway. Tandem clotheslines and a high low attack floored Carlson. Referees and officials from nearby ran over to break up the melee, but the damage was done.
The two members of the Celtic Club admired their work, before Andy said that they weren't done, and were going to leave their imprint on this tournament one way or another.

Semi-Finals
No Time Limit
"The Professional" Leon Van Zandt vs. Jay Stevens
--
Two men who have much respect for one and other found themselves on opposites sides of the ring from the other in the semi-finals of the championship tournament. When Jay Stevens needed an ally, he found one in Leon VZ. Leon was quick to come to Jay's aid at a press conference which was held in the weeks leading up to NPW's New Year's Event, where Jay and Leon were successful in eliminating Bloodline from Northern Pro Wrestling, and effectively shaking up the entire landscape of the promotion.
In an interesting turn of events, what might've lead to more matches as a team, didn't. Instead, both men forged forward and did their best to continue their singles ambitions. When the brackets were unveiled, one had to wonder if these two men would in fact match up in the second round. In seeing this, the styles that each men utilize can be neutralized by the other.
Add a wrinkle to this contest, and it would be the fact that Andy Donohue and Chris Cavanagh made their way to ringside for a 'closer look'. Knowing Andy is salty about not factoring into the decision in his match, and what we just saw backstage in regards to their attack on Gordon Carlson - we had to know that they intended to ruin someones night. LVZ is no stranger to the Celtic club, and they way they use the numbers game to their advantage.
As the match progressed, it seemed as though neither Jay or Leon paid attention to what was going on the exterior of the ring, Instead, they treated the fans to an absolute mat classic. Jay proved to be up to task against the flemish vet, who's style of wrestling is unique and tough to prepare for.
The fans cheered both competitors, wanting to see the best man win. The Celtic Club tried to make the moment about them, and at one point got up on the apron trying to distract the referee and insert themselves. Before anything major could happen, Gus Arnold sent out security and asked them to remove Andy and Trigger from ringside, but the fact that they showed each competitor a lack of respect was certainly noted.
The fans did the NA NA NA NA HEY HEY GOOD BYE Chant, as six of NPW's finest escorted The Celtic Club minus John out of the ringside area.
Back to the action, and it appeared as though Jay Stevens was mounting momentum, coming off of the ropes and looking to execute the LARIAATO that his dad has become so well known for. Leon was able to duck, go behind and execute a Crucifx Pin situation, which caught Jay off guard. The referee was right in position, so by the time Jay hit the mat, the referee was making the first count.
The fans looked on, and in a surprising flash pin situation, Leon was able to hold Stevens down, as Jay kicked out at 3.1!
Winner: Leon Van Zandt via Crucifix (8:12)
Jay tried to shrug it off, seemingly well in control of the contest, but another quick pinfall reared it's ugly head, much like it did in the finals of the Cruiserweight Cup. In both instances, Stevens was looking to finish things, and was caught.
After a few moments of letting his frustrations out, the sportsmanship aspect came though and Jay walked to the middle of the ring and shook the out stretched hand of "The Professional". These two again showed a ton of respect for one and other, and treated the fans to a mat wrestling showcase of the ages. It would be Leon Van Zandt who was able to snatch a victory out of thin air and now position himself as a finalist for the Northern Openweight Championship.

Semi Finals
No Time Limit
'D' vs. Eron Hunter
--
The second semi final was set to be contested in the air, over there and everywhere. Both of these men liked to use the entire ring to their advantage and have no issues taking risks in the air to inflict maximum damage on their opponents. Eron Hunter is likely the most beloved wrestler on the roster, and gives back all of the love he receives each and every time he sets foot inside of the ring.
His ability to take a shot, and never say die has captured the hearts of the fans all over Canada. His world wide pedigree at such a young age is impressive, and he has earned every bit of the praise associated with his name.
The winner of the 2021 Cruiserweight Cup has become a bonafide star, and this can also be proven by in inclusion in a monster main event tag team match that is set to take place at Northern Pro Wrestling's return show to the Maritimes. on May 11th, where Hunter will team with Lord Dominicus to take on Jesse Jamester and John Cavanagh.
On the other side of the ring 'D' comes to Northern Pro Wrestling with a mysterious history and background. Forced out of wrestling, and now seemingly forced back into it by an agency of men who seemingly hold power in his world. Above that, 'D' has a kinship with the streets, and is often seen doing the right thing in the face of evil on a regular basis. His debut outing in Northern Pro Wrestling was earlier in the evening, and he earned a hard fought victory to move forward.
Over the last couple of broadcasts, D has been keeping a close eye on Northern Pro Wrestling. He's been in the shadows both in and outside of the building. The craft competitor is observing before throwing himself into the fire. His calculated decision making should warn those who oppose of how big of a threat he is.
Either way, the winner of this contest would have earned it. The winner had Leon Van Zandt waiting for them in the finals, and a match with someone with his credentials would be a notch on anyone's resume.
As expected, both men took flight early an often. An early highlight was a vicious Tornado DDT from D, which drove Hunter head first to the mat, but resulted in a near fall. As is in most cases when Hunter is in the ring, the fans are behind in 110%. They willed him back into the contest when it looked like D was set for victory.
A backflip reversal out of a German Suplex, followed by an inverted lifting DDT, drove D to the mat, Hunter held for a cover, but was only able to get a two count for his troubles.
After back to back near falls, the intensity of the match was at it's apex. Both men were leary of that pinfall that could come out of nowhere, and both had felt the resiliency of the other shining through their motives and actions.
The fans began to clap in unison, as both men were clearly putting it all on the line in this one. Hunter slammed D to the mat, and went upstairs looking to execute a shooting star press, but D moved! The miscalculation took the wind out of Hunter, and allowed D a few moments to recover. Hunter sort of stumbled into a Dragon Suplex, and D took him over and held it with a bridge to secure the pinfall and his place in the finals of the Openweight Tournament.
Winner: 'D' via Dragon Suplex Hold (10:11)

For the first time ever in Northern Pro Wrestling...
"Turbo Killer" by Carpenter Brut begins to play and the lights in the arena are snuffed out. Red lights on the stage blink on and off, on and off, showing the outline of three figures that make their way out from behind the curtains.
As the music picks up, the red lights start to blink more rapidly, and eventually the arena lights come back to life. Who are the three mystery men? The ReVenants! Neo James Carner, Rob Garcia, and Keith Williams! Rob is posed in the middle of the three, back to the camera with his arms and clenched fists out to the side of his body, while the other two are leaned over towards him and both pointing at Rob with their two index fingers. Garcia spins around, a big grin on his face as he points to his two partners in crime. The Big Bad Wolves bump fists, immediately drawing back to pose some more, taking in the reaction of the crowd. Some people love it, but most people seem to hate it and the obvious nature of their super cockiness.
The ReVenants make their way down to the ring, taunting the fans as they go and being especially generous with the middle fingers. Upon reaching ringside, Keith does his usual groin thrusting of the bottom rope and mustache stroking. Rob fakes out any fan foolish enough to think they can touch him or go for a high five, all the while laughing the entire time in their face. Neo enters the ring, grasping the top rope and pulling back on it, releasing it only to flex his muscles for the enjoyment of... Everyone! Keith and Rob join him, the three posing together in the middle of the ring. To really make it feel special, several streams of red pyro go off behind them as they all stop posing now.
A company stooge hands off three microphones, one to each ReVenant and wisely exits the ring as quickly as they can. Introducing themselves, Rob Garcia starts.
Garcia: We destroyed AWF, left them with Adam Sanders as their champion! Which was the plan all along, to sink that shit hole of a promotion! And while we went to war with the dysfunctional garbage on that roster one day it dawned on us.
Looking out at the crowd, The King of Extreme continues.
Garcia: Sanders and the Eddie Wanker faction would kill the promotion off faster than we ever could. So we gifted him the top title and now ticket sales are non-existent, ratings are a joke and Merchandising is dead now that we're gone! And now here we are in NPW! Our next target in the XHF! We're here once again to take all the gold and bury all the roster mold!
Picking up where Rob left off, NJC commences his introduction to the NPW faithful.
Carner: I'm Neo James Carner and I'm the bestler of all the wrestlers! You haven't seen me in a ring since AWFul committed federation suicide and let my contract not get renewed! But I'm here to tell you that the ReVenants baby, WOOO, they just don't quit! We got a new home in our eyes!
His eyebrow arched, a smirk present, Keith speaks.
Williams: It feels SO good to be in NPW!
Fishing for a cheap pop, Keith gets it! For a brief moment there’s a chant of, “N-P-DUB, N-P-DUB, N-P-DUB!”, that breaks out.
Williams: It’s amazing what a little change can bring. Am I right?
Still smirking, The God of Sleaze genuinely looks and seems healthier. There’s a certain glow to all of The ReVenants as they bro it up together in the middle of the ring.
Williams: Is the air cleaner? The grass greener? The skies clearer? It’s gotta be something; The ReVenants are REALLY liking Canada! Gus Arnold, your money was well spent, my friend!
A few fans yell, “Thank you, Gus!”, clearly favoring the newest signees. LD’s fans can be heard decrying Keith and saying he’s too toxic.
Williams: I’m happier, Rob’s happier, Neo’s happier, we’re all happy!
Nodding at each other, the three agree wholeheartedly with that statement.
Williams: It’s like… A giant boulder was lifted off of our backs and we’re learning what it means to live life again!
Atlas ain’t got nothing on The ReVenants.
Williams: You’ll be seeing the three of us A LOT more! Alex Turner. Primal. Niko. The NPW North American Double Crown and Cruiserweight Champion Lord Dominicus. They were examples of what’s to come.
More boos than cheers are audible, a large section of the crowd upset with what happened to the four wrestlers.
Williams: Northern Pro Wrestling thought they knew true tyranny and chaos. The child’s play of the Syndicate will pale in comparison to the future devastation that The ReVenants have in store for the roster. Negating them as a risk was as simple as doing nothing. Eric Dane left to his own devices will ALWAYS destroy himself and those around him. He removed his pieces from the chessboard and I couldn’t be anything but grateful. Thank you, Dying Star, you weak kneed piece of shit!
Winking at the camera, Keith laughs as do Neo and Rob.
Williams: Openweight, cruiserweight, heavyweight. It doesn’t matter! Neo James Carner, Rob Garcia, and Keith Williams will wrestle and beat anyone! You won’t find a stronger trio in all of the XHF! We’re glory hounds that can’t overcome our addiction to gold! Wolves that leave no trace of their kill! The hierarchy has been altered, ladies and gentlemen! The ReVenants are at the top of the food chain!
Pointing at himself, then Neo, then Rob, Keith concludes his portion aptly.
Williams: We’ll never stop, because we can’t stop!
[...]
[Orion - Eternity (Chillout Version) hits and Turner struts out to the rampway.]
Timeless : (Going straight into Biff mode) Well looky what we have here.

3!

--
[Backstage.]

'D' vs. Eron Hunter
--
The second semi final was set to be contested in the air, over there and everywhere.

"If it bleeds, we can kill it."
"And we ain't got time to bleed."
"And we ain't got time to bleed."
[Timeless motions to the three ReVs in the ring.]
Timeless : The ReVenants. XHF Stable of the year. Right here in the NPW! The Alex Turner Arena!
[Timeless slow claps.]
Timeless : And you debuted getting one over on Sir Winsalot! Bravo. That doesn't happen too often, let me give you the hot tip.
You lot must be smarter than you look. Or dumber. Same same coming for Timeless!
[The ReVs motion for Timeless to come on in.]
Timeless : Don't worry. I will.
See. I think you got the wrong impression about me. I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what I do.
I step in that ring, and I bust your Fucken skull open. Sure, you lot may get a few shots in ... but so will I.
And just about the time I get out of the medical facility, hopefully, it's time for the next show, cause I'll get in that ring with you lot again and I'll get my shots in AGAIN!
Cause I'm stupid like that. I don't care about getting hurt. Getting hurt is my business!
[Timeless heads to the ring]
Timeless hits the ring and starts swinging. To his credit, he knows that three of the most dangerous men in the world of professional wrestling are waiting for him - and he welcomes it.
BAM!
Timeless cracks Keith Williams with a stiff shot.
NJC approaches and eats a knuckle sandwich.
Garcia goes low, grabs a hold of Timeless by the waist, but Timeless reigns down elbows from 12 o clock to 6o clock, which causes Garcia to release his grip.
Williams comes back, charges, back drop from Timeless.
RAAAAHHHH!
The crowd is enjoying this comeback.
SMACK!!
Neo James Carner out of nowhere with a running knee strike. Timeless stops dead, and eats a tornado punch from Garcia that drops him.
The Revs begins stomping away at Timeless. The crowd immediately shows their displeasure, but that only seems to incite the Revs further. Keith Williams grabs Timeless, and picks him up and back hand slaps him across the face! The disrespect is real.
Garcia and NJC each grab an arm, so Timeless is helpless, wide open and Williams plays target practice with each of Timeless' ribs.
Williams back peddles like Muhammad Ali, before blistering Timeless with a KO punch to the jaw.
[RAAAAAAAHHHH!]
[Here Comes PRIMAL!]
What a surprise!
The man that has been waging war with Timeless for months is now here to even the odds to the best of his ability.
The Revs see him coming, and immediately look to cut him off. Primal seems impervious of pain, as he fires up and has all three Revs bouncing around the ring after being fed stiff shots. Primal looks at Timeless, who's starting to come to. Primal then looks at the crowd, and motions for them to get on their feet.
They do.
CLAP CLAP CLAP
Primal and Timeless run together and execute clotheslines, and the Rev's go down!
The two rivals look eachother in the eye, and share a nod. Primal an Timeless appear to be working together~! W.T.F!
Just as the fans were buzzing, Garcia got up and attacked Primal with a double axe handle from behind. NJC and Williams went after Timeless.
Before long, the numbers game proved to be too much and The Revs were able to take control of the situation once again. A Double DDT from Williams and Garcia on Primal took him down, and out. Timeless kept trying to fight, but he was swarmed once again 3 on 1, and ate some serious strikes from the Trio.
Williams and Garcia pushed Timeless back into the ropes and wrapped his arms up. Now he's wide open, unable to protect himself! NJC laced Timeless up with some vicious strikes. Garcia was about to do the same, but Primal shook the cobwebs and using what looked like super-human strength, rushed forward and shoulder tackled NJC out of the ring. Garcia turned around, caught a vicious uppercut! Williams was about to get the same, but he rolled out of the ring and pulled Garcia out with him. The duo walked over to NJC, to check on him.
The Revs had done their damage and got away relatively unscathed in the process. They made a major statement both on the mic, and with their actions. There is strength in numbers and these three work together like a well-oiled machine. The three of them raised their hands, declaring themselves victorious, which was met with a resounding amount of BOOOOOOS from the crowd.
Inside of the ring, Primal unwrapped Timeless, and let his rival slowly get to his feet without laying a harmful finger on him. When Timeless finally got to his feet, he looked at Primal, and the two rivals made sure to keep eyes on one and other. No violence against one and other today. Perhaps the fact the Revs through them off the stage a couple of weeks ago, and they had an opportunity to come together against a common enemy while being stitched up by the NPW medical staff.
Either way, something tells me that this conflict is far from solved.

"The Professional" Leon Van Zandt vs. D
--
The fans were on the edge of their seats for this truly unique matchup. Which style would prevail? Which grappler has the most remaining in their tank to put forth the optimal effort. Which wrestler would rise to the occasion to claim championship gold? The stage was set, and the tournament had built to the ultimate crescendo.
The grappling sensation that has yet to have his shoulder pinned in the mat in nearly six months, plus a strong run earlier in 2020 - Leon Van Zandt. This type of tournament structure fits Leon's skills perfectly, as he seems to air on the side of caution and gives his best efforts in retaining energy. Call it a lack of flash, or call it logic. LVZ moves like a trained assassin with the skills to back it up.
On the other side, our mystery man who has taken the promotion by storm looked as poised as over through his first two matches, and stood inside of the ring preparing for battle and lead with a confidence that spoke volumes to those who picked up on it. This wasn't his first rodeo, and he must've enjoyed success in the past.
When the two of them locked up, you could sense a tension in the air. Leon took control early with a wrist lock, a go behind followed, but D flipped out of it and drop kicked Leon in the back. A microcosm of both men's styles in the opening exchange. A lock, a flip, and a strike. Which would prevail.
As the match wore on, both men encountered moments of glory where they took control of the bout, and showcased their skills. Leon nearly had the sugar hold locked on at about the five minute mark, but D was able to suss it out and roll away prior to Leon full synching it in. Once D rolled out, it was as if he was a cat with new found life.
D hit the ropes and connected with a solid basement dropkick with caught Leon clean in the mush. A cover followed, but D was only able to get a two count. D was back on the the attack, lacing Leon with kicks to the body, which eventually folded him forward, and D executed a fisherman's buster.

2.
NO!
Strong kickout from Leon.
D kept coming, irised whipped Leon into the corner, came diving forward looking for a spear, but Leon caught him with a front face lock, which he moved into a guillotine choke!
D had an arm in, so the pressure wasn't what it could be, but Leon was using his hips and leverage for it's worth, and the grip appeared tight. The referee was in position to check on things, so he could hear a submission or see a tap.
The fans were stirring, expecting this to be the conclusion of the match where a new champion would be crowned. As time passed, D was able to pull his head out after what felt like a solid minute, and through strikes from above, which Leon was able to block, before turning to his side and rolling out of harm's way.
D tried to keep fighting, but realized he was a little light headed from being in the choke for as long as he was, and was losing his balance. Leon jumped forward and snatched his arm and took him down with a cross arm breaker!
Again, the referee was in position.
D was able to get his legs under the bottom rope to break the hold. But the message was clear, Leon could take anyone into dangerous waters at any time, and very quickly. The match could be over in the snap of a finger, and yet, D was proving to be game, with great ring awareness and spectacular defence.
The surge of attacks from Leon seemed to bring out the best in D, who moved cautiously around the ring, knowing there was a predator in there with him who was willing to strike at a moments notice. This seemed to light a fire under the NPW newcomer, and when Leon went for his legs, D spun away, executed a go behind and execute a nice release german suplex on Leon, which bought him more time to recover from the choke.
D decided to let Leon get back his feet, instead of diving into Leon's world on the mat, even to pick him up to set up more offence. As Leon was getting to his feet, D ran forward and cracked him with a step up enziguri!!

Leon was able to get up after what felt like a KO blow from D. The fans OHHHHHHH'ed as the match continued.
Lets go Leon!
Let's go D!
Let's go Leon!
Let's go D!
Let's go Leon!
Let's go D!
D couldn't believe it, he felt he had it won. Leon was back up, and shook off the strike, showing true toughness. D tried to use the ropes to springboard plancha Leon, but the vet grabbed a limb while D was midair and turned it into a sit-down armlock! Leon had D's elbow locked up under his armpit, and leaned back, synching the hold in with full force.
OOOOOOHHHHHH
The referee was asking. D shook his head no. Leon cranked.
AAAAAHHHH!
His hand moved, would he tap?
[...]
D rocked back and forth, KIP UP! but Leon came up with him holding onto the arm. D rolled forward, doing all he could to break the hold, and his ability to roll forward sent Leon chest first into the near ropes, where he bounced off, and D was there to hit him with a school boy roll up!

DING DIND DING!
The crowd was in shock, but then started to cheer. A roll up out of that sequence was the last thing they thought possible, but it happened.
Here is your Winner and the very 1st Northern Openweight Champion: 'D'
Leon looked confused, and shocked that he had just been rolled up like that after seemingly being in control. D rolled out of the ring, and waited for the referee to present him with the championship. A month later, it was in his grasp, and D tuned to the crowd and bowed, thanking them for their support!
Just like that, he was gone. D jogged up the ramp and out of sight. He accomplished what he set out to accomplish and disappeared before we could get a word with him.
Our show concluded and went off the air with Leon Van Zandt in the middle of the ring, humbly accepting he was beaten, but still trying to figure out if it was a fast count or not. Leon put his hands on his hips and watched the replay on the big screen. The fans cheered him on, and did their best to lift his spirits.
Thank you Leon!
Thank you Leon!
