General efedding opinions/interests survey

Question #1

How do you feel about RP content - storyline vs trashtalk - on a scale from 1 to 5?
1) I only want to read storyline RPs, don't even care if they have something to do with wrestling.
2) Strongly prefer storyline RPs but I'd prefer they have at least some relevance to what's happening on the card.
3) Storyline and character development and trashtalking are both good and I like a mix of both.
4) I don't mind some character development but the back and forth is more important to me.
5) I'm here for the trashtalk, storyline RPs don't interest me.
Thoughts: I am more of a storytelling fan, which runs a risk of being cut out with lower limit roleplays and trash talk centered roleplays. It has been an adjustment for me, but I certainly feel my best work is when I can write a story and weave the wrestling narrative into the life of my character. It makes the writing more enjoyable, and the matches mean more to me - than just "I want to hurt you in such a specific way RAWR" that I see trash talk become.

How do you feel about reading matches? Scale of 1-5.
1) I honestly don't read or care about matches, just tell me who won and let's move on.
2) I like reading my characters matches but honestly skim or skip most other stuff.
3) I feel that the written matches can be important to the storylines but they can also get boring after a while.
4) I rather like reading matches and read most of them.
5) I love reading matches, and read them all.
Thoughts: As a fan of writing results, I prefer good stories and psychology being weaved like a spider web as matches are booked towards an ultimate pay off. A match can be just a match, or it can tell a story and create storyline avenues for the handler. It all depends on the writer and how they plan to tell the match story.

How do you feel about match size in general? Scale of 1-5.
1) Honestly don't care about matches, a sentence saying who won is good enough.
2) I want to at least know what happened in the match but a couple paragraphs is good.
3) I like PPVs and the occasional main event to be big, although generally a few paragraphs is good.
3.5) Most results should be small and efficient but PPVs should be bigger and grander.
4) I prefer fully written matches, with recaps being saved for matches where the handlers didn't earn better.
5) If I'm going to bust my ass writing good RPs I want to read a match of equal quality, period.

In the results: Present tense, past tense, or a mix of both?
Prefer them however they are delivered. A paste tense works for summaries, a present tense works for play-by-play. Sometimes a mesh of the past to explain the build up into a present tense, but this is flirting with danger.

In the results: Script style format or novel style format? Bonus points if you feel like explaining why you prefer one, the other, or a mix of both.
I write in script style for results. I prefer knowing who is talking to whom in an easy to tell format that doesn't confuse readers and immediately draws you in based on the names in front of you. It's like play-by-play, if that was in novel format it would be a pain in the ass to write. If one thing is being used for matches or segments, I prefer all of them to be that way to keep the formula and appearance of the results to look uniform.

How consistently formatted do you like your results? Scale of 1-3
1) I actually like results where everything's formatted differently because it allows individual writing styles to shine through
2) I have no opinion one way or another on the format, I just roll with it
3) I like everything to be formatted the same, because it's more like watching something that was professionally produced

How do you feel about crude/risque/generally adult content?
1) I prefer things to be G - squeaky clean a la CHIKARA
2) I prefer things to be PG - some profanity, a la current WWE
3) I prefer things to be PG13 - moderate violence and profanity, a la Attitude Era WWF
4) I prefer things to be R - significant violence, profanity, sexual stuff, a la ECW
5) I prefer things to be NC17 - completely uncensored (honestly I don't think proboards would allow this, I'm just including it for completion's sake)

How realistic do you like your wrestling characters?
1) Completely off the wall, anything goes.
2) I'm fine with experimental goofy gimmicks, but there ought to be at least a few limits, e.g. Chikara, Lucha Underground
3) I prefer grounded in reality but I still prefer colorful gimmicks, e.g. Rock N Wrestling WWF
4) Characters are alright but they shouldn't be too off the wall, e.g. Attitude Era WWF
5) I prefer straight laced wrestling first characters, e.g. RoH, NJPW.
Thoughts: The best gimmicks can be off the wall if played correctly. It's a matter of making the character come off like larger than life, but still giving it a vulnerability that brings it down to earth. I've seen some outlandish characters that made great roleplaying series, but were booked poorly and never made traction anywhere. Then they find the right place and the booker gets their gimmick, and it's off to the races. Sometimes where you roleplay is as important as the gimmick you want to portray. Read the room, decide if your gimmick fits this area, if not, no hard feelings - we don't all fit in some places.

How do you feel about the decisions on who wins/loses matches?
1) Handlers are not entitled to be told anything, that information is for the fedheads/judges only
2) Handlers should be allowed to know who the voters/judges were and how they voted
3) Voters/judges should have to justify their votes if it's requested of them
4) Voters/judges should follow a publicly-available RP grading rubric in addition to justifying them. (I'm not saying we'll do this even if it turns out to be a popular answer, but I am throwing it out there)
Thoughts: I left this one blank because I don't agree there is a right answer or wrong answer here. Everyone is bound to have an opinion here that is rightfully correct in their eyes. For me, I feel I am more likely as a handler not required to know anything about the decision of a win or loss, but if I ask how close it was or for comments from judges, that a reason should be respectfully provided in some format. 

As a staff member, I would like to think that effort buys a lot of stock in close roleplay matches; so that being said, if someone is tearing it up working every show, doing segments, roleplaying, reactions, creating news that brings eyes to your fed -- just going that extra mile, that says they are really intertwined with the product you created. That deserves a boost, respectfully at the right time - and at the discretion of the people that make those calls. Nothing is perfect in results, it's all opinion based, and one reason when CWA does Global Events, the format to judging will be outlined prior to roleplaying so that people can choose if participating for them is going to be fair. When I judge outside events, I base it off a 5 point system, and each part of a roleplay is analyzed to show a consistency in judging. When I read NPW roleplays, I do the same, but I factor in people who have been showing the extra effort, who have carved out a character that can work in multiple situations, and allows for flexible booking. We want to tell a story, but we don't want it to be so one sided, so the balancing act exists and is a difficult one to manage. You're never the popular person when you're picking winners and losers on a card.

How do you feel about color in the results?
1) Go for it.
2) Let people do segs how they want but have a standard format for matches.
3) I like that thing where everyone picks an Official Color for their characters.
4) Monochrome for me, rainbows don't help me read.
Thoughts: Stick to a format and stay to it. Keeping colors to the names and not all the text is a big pet-peeve of mine, and why I try and uniform that as much as I can. Roleplays I'll play around with it, but on a bigger scale for results, I feel it should be one way throughout and keep that uniform appearance.
