Title: “Behind the Curtain”
Show: Lethal Lottery Day #2
Date: November 8th, 2020
“Northern Pro Wrestling signed the returning Jesse Jamester; little did they know that he was back with a purpose. For four years, the resident northern famed wrestler, with accolades spreading the globe, and over 20 years working in the business. Debuting December 9th, 1999 in the Sales Pavilion in Edmonton, Alberta.
Canada was his home, the roads he traveled were his life, and wrestling has always been his purpose. School had no interest; it was wrestling magazines of the great Canadian Stampede stars and Japanese shows featuring Canadian legends that attracted Jesse’s imagination.
If time tells us anything, there is no doubt in what Jesse Jamester is capable of. Former accoladed at OWF in 2016 before spending four years incarcerated, Jesse comes back to the wrestling world at an interesting time. Will he be capable of capturing the magic he had in 2016? Or will this be ‘the kids’ last hoorah in his home country?
Northern Pro Wrestling makes its tour around the Canadian providences this winter. The next event hosted in Mississauga, ON at the Powerade Centre will feature a tag team match with Scott Steele and Jesse Jamester teaming up against The Evanston Express. Two men who don’t know each other face two brothers in what should be a knock down drag out fight! This card is stacked and bound to be an event you don’t want to miss! “
The typewriter finishes clicking and the return button hit until the page comes off the roller. A young blondish brown haired young man sits back in a brown sofa chair from the desk, reading his article, as an envelope on his desk shows “Mississauga Newspaper” written with the address.
Vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-oooooooooooooooom
Whizzing past the 51 kilometer marker, the rusted black ford f-150 rolls on. The engine purring in this cold season for the northern country folk. Inside the truck, Jesse Jamester is seen tapping his finger on the steering wheel.
“Aye, where was it you were going?” says Jesse as he glances over to a cloaked older man who was shivering.
“However far west you can take me,” mutters the old man, his hands tremble as the dashboard shows some frost on the windows. The heat wasn’t on.
“I can do that for you. What’s your name again?” asks Jesse, who seems genuinely interested.
“Clayton, but you can call me Clay,” retorts the man, his green eyes watching out the window as the country side passes by each kilometer they travel.
“Clay, you like wrestling?” Jesse pipes up, his eyebrow raise a little, as he waits for a response.
“I use to, when it was real wrestling. Not this drama and acrobatic shit- pardon my language,” responds Clay as he snuggles up his trench coat. “Does the heat work in here?”
“No sir, quit working a couple weeks ago. Dump of a truck here has been riding these roads for two decades, she’s ole’ reliable,” jests Jesse, as he pats the dashboard with kindness.
“Older than me it seems,” laughs Clay.
“Listen, older doesn’t mean dead, alright! More mileage brings more experience, and I’ll bet on that any day of the week,” boasts Jesse.
“Aye, agree with that!” nods Clay.
“When’s the last time you saw a wrestling event Clay?” Jesse asks as he scratches his beard.
“Oh, more than a decade ago. Why?” blurts back the old man.
“We are heading to one as we speak. I’m wrestling with this lurch Scott Steele against two brothers in Mississagua, Ontario,” proudly exclaims Jesse.
“You any good? Or should I find another ride incase you end up in the hospital?” asks Clay with a smirk on his wrinkly face.
“I’m alright, I guess. If my partner doesn’t pull some shit, I think this will be an easy night of work. Go show off for the fans and give’em a memorable show,” says Jesse as he grabs his sunglasses from a holder above the rearview mirror.
“How long you been wrestling?” asks Clay, who seems interested.
“Oh, since I was 16, been in love with it my whole life Clay. Have had a few wives, a lot of loves – both physically and hobbies, but none of them compare to my love of the sport. Something about it, well, it just feels like home to me,” retorts Jesse, as he puts the sunglasses on.
“Cherish it while you can. At some point, father time catches up to us all, and there is no denying his lack of mercy,” grunts Clay as he refocuses out the window, hands in his pockets.
“Right. The reaper waits for no one my friend,” replies Jesse as he turns the dial on the radio and the rock tunes of “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival rings through the one speaker door.
Sitting in the back locker room on a steel folding chair, taping his hands up with the white tape. The Canadian Nightmare, dressed for the evenings event, his green scaly dragon like mask on, with the black face paint around the eyes and mouth as the long brown hair hangs over it as he looks down.
"Madness.
Will drive a sane man to the brink of desperation. It’s my job, to push him over the edge.Scott Steele is far from a sane man, and he sure aint desperate. As long as he keeps in his lane, we will be just fine. Evanston Express, I make no bones about what happens to you tonight. It's just business."
