If St. Louis is the "Gateway to the West" then Los Angeles must be the "Gateway to the Universe."
This place is weird.
And I grew up in Jacksonville, which is the Alabama of Florida, so I've seen some weird stuff every day. But here? It's like the circus every day and just about everyone is performing in one way or another.
I'm surprised it took this long for the old guys to make it out here, it's practically the meth addict's fever dream they both call daily life.
It's nice to be back in the fold, even if the view has changed. We're one step closer to the green light with each passing day and it has been a huge relief to get the basics set up at the new training facility. It's nowhere near where the TDU spot was in J-Ville but it'll get there eventually.
This place is a utopia compared to what we had in Chicago with Davis' whole spartan, "all you need is a ring and willpower" deal. And he's right in some ways, but you can only get dumped on your head so many times in your life, doing it in a cold, damp warehouse in Chicago doesn't make you tougher.
That's all better left behind me though. Nikki will be here this weekend and Jordan should be here by Thanksgiving. It's like changing coaches at halftime, you've already been playing the game but the entire philosophy of the game has changed.
My phone has been blowing up for days, ever since we opened the doors to the school. I wasn't expecting things to get moving so fast. When Ty and Steve told me it was going to be in Long Beach, I thought that was far away, I had no idea that driving forty-five minutes in L.A. still puts you in L.A. Major cities all stacked on top of each other and they plan to conquer all of it.
I just want to get back in the ring, get my reps in and regain that feeling, those instincts. Ring rust is no joke and no one tells you how fast it creeps over you. One month away and I've been missing cues, biting on obvious feints and just plain getting my ass kicked.
I'm back on track though. Just have to keep building and moving forward and being back in Northern Pro will keep me focused. Settling scores will put me at ease.
All that's left after that is winning the gold and being the best.
No pressure.
