Eddie Is sitting at the head of the large wooden table. He is currently in the club's meeting room. He has been looking at the rest of the competitors for the Cruiserweight Cup. He has been waiting for the Cruiserweight Cup to be officially announced. It almost felt like ages ago when he signed himself up.
After he destroyed Willard Manchester in his first Singles Match with the company, that's right, Willard was the mystery opponent that night. He remembered feeling justified in beating Willard on that night. Only did he prove to everyone what he already knew and had been telling everyone since day one. Finally, give me a one on one match, and I will confirm how good I am. He proved his point. To make it all the sweeter, he had just destroyed a former North American Cruiserweight Champion, the inaugural champion. To top that off, he was also the first winner of the Cruiserweight Cup back in 2018.
Quickly he had risen in the Cruiserweight ranks. Not that long ago, he had made his intentions clear! The North American Cruiserweight title. He wants that belt and doesn't care who is holding it at the time. With the brackets officially released, he now had his first three targets. Jay Stevens, Julius Fristik and James Knight. One Debut, one is returning to the promotion and former Cruiserweight Champion.
In the first match, Eddie will be facing Jay Stevens. What better way to kick it all off than beating the only former Cruiserweight Champion in this bracket. The second match is scheduled for two days later; he will be facing Julius Fristik. Relatively unknown element. It appears as if he will make his return during this tournament. Than a Date to be announced. He will finally face James Knight, yet another newcomer, that will make his debut during the tournament. It would only take five matches, and then no one could deny him a title shot any longer. Eddie starts to look over the official bio for Jay Stevens on his laptop.
"Firstly, I will face Jay in the opening match. He has been in this tournament once before and held the Cruiserweight title. Let's face it; you had your chance last year. I am not taking anything away from you. You had a good showing, well, right up to the finals anyway. Be interesting to see what you have, and it's not like you have been that active recently. Well, one match that I can remember, yea, you picked up the win, Congratulations."
Eddie sits back in his chair, resting his chin against his fist, staring across the room.
"Do you think you can wrestle three matches in a short time and win enough of them to advance out of the bracket stages? Seriously, tho bro. Do you honestly think you have what it takes? Even if you manage to dig down deep and pick up his win along the way, is it going to be enough to get to the semi-finals? Was it the best decision to sign up for this tournament? Let's face it, and it could end up being embarrassing for you when you lose the majority of your matches and get knocked out of the tournament."
Suddenly there's a knock at the door. Knock… Knock. "Yes," said Eddie. Suddenly Cade and Bobby walked in. Bobby took his regular seat to the left-hand side of Eddie. After closing the door, Cade sits down on the chair to the right of Eddie.
"So now, Christmas and New Year are out of the way. With all of the usual festive stuff all done." Said Eddie. He was briefly looking towards both of them, waiting to see any issues. "Now that is all sorted. Cade, I will need you on the road and help with my training. Bobby, the club will be left in your capable hands for a few weeks." Eddie continued after no objections.
"Yea, I'm all ready to go when you are." Said Cade. Bobby took a moment to light a cigarette. "So, are you reviewing the prospects before you head out?" Asked Bobby.
"No, for now. Put them through their paces, and then we will review upon my return," Eddie replied. "If there is anything else, I need to finish up some bits here before we head out", he added.
Bobby nods before getting up and leaving the room. Eddie looks over to Cade before pushing the laptop in front of him.
"This is going to be interesting," said Eddie. After a few moments looking at the laptop, Cade looks up from the screen. "Not going to be a walk in the path. Three matches over three nights." Cade replied. "Well, it doesn't seem to be three nights back to back. However, you are right; this isn't going to be easy. Even if I get past the bracket stage, as far as I can tell, I will have Wrestle two matches on the same night." Eddie added. Cade nodded. "I see; we are going to need to focus on a plan. The main objective will have to be to finish the match as quickly as possible." Cade said. "True my friend. That might be a lot more difficult when it comes down to it." Eddie commented.
Cade looked back down at the computer before turning the screen towards Eddie. "This Jay Steven's, former Cruiserweight Champion, last year made ay to the finals. He knows what it will take. He will be driven to try and win it this year." Cade explained. "I take it you have a plan in mind," asked Eddie. "Not yet. I will by the time we get to the gym" Cade explained with a smile on his face. "Let's get ourselves ready and head out within the hour", Eddie said. Cade promptly stands u and leaves the room. Eddie shuts the laptop down and after a while also leaves the room.
